HOURS: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION: 600 N. Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD. This job is 100% ON-SITE

Pay: $20.40/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Release of Information Specialist (ROI Specialist) TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE, under the leadership of the ROI Supervisor and Manager, is responsible for providing excellent customer support, performing clerical duties, and may complete simple medical record requests. The ROI Temp will greet and assist customers upon arriving in the ROI area, answer phone calls and redirect as appropriate, read and interpret medical record requests/authorizations and data enter the requests/authorization into EPIC. The ROI Temp with safeguard and protect patient privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals are granted access to medical record information.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to review a patient authorization for completeness, and judge adherence to hospital and health system polices, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to interpret requests for copies of medical records to determine the specific information to be released.
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate, via phone and in person, with requesters to include patients, providers, attorneys, payers, and various other internal and external customers.
  • Effect organizational skills required to prioritize simultaneous requests, phone calls, issues requiring follow up, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills to ensure requesters receive prompt, thorough, and courteous responses.
  • Proficiency with: Microsoft Office, EPIC 200 (not extensive) will coordinate access, Outlook, CMS(willing to train), AVAYA (phone)

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Record management experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with privacy regulations preferred (HIPAA)
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Technology Experience:

  • Proficiency with: Microsoft Office, EPIC 200 (not extensive) will coordinate access, Outlook, CMS(willing to train), AVAYA (phone)

Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or GED required
