The PGA Recruiting and Member Engagement Specialist will serve as the primary recruiter in their assigned region and support the engagement and retention of PGA Professionals. Support the Career Consultants, Player Engagement Consultants, and Regional Team Leaders in serving PGA Members, Employers and Sections in that region.

This position will serve as regional recruiting specialists providing strategic guidance, leadership, awareness, and support for the promotion of PGA Membership as a viable career opportunity, the promotion of PGM Universities as collegiate options for future PGA Members, and overall awareness of career opportunities in the game of golf. This role also serves a key component in supporting the Associations Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming and messaging focused on talent recruitment.

This Specialist will support a cross functional team in the delivery of regionally and locally focused resources, programs, and services in the Career Services, Player Engagement, and Recruiting & Awareness arena. The Specialist will demonstrate a commitment to ensure that all three departments are supported by a high-functioning, integrated team that has cultivated meaningful and powerful relationships with the Sections and Members of the Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Recruiting:

Collaborate with Regional Team Leaders and Senior Director of Career Services to create, implement, and track efforts to promote PGA Membership as a viable career path. Target audiences include but are not limited to college and university golf teams, recreational management degree students, high school golf teams, PGA-affiliated junior golf initiatives’ parents and participants, while always maintaining the PGA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Assist in recruiting strategy, planning, and event execution
  • Follow up on recruiting “leads”
  • Provide PGA Sections with recruiting support and education
  • Provide support to the regional model team
  • Deliver the highest level of customer service to all stakeholders
  • Immerse themselves in a team first culture
  • Maintain and report monthly recruiting statistics as determined by the Regional Team Leader.
  • Support a series of recruiting events at the direction of the department leadership including but not limited to create a schedule of recruiting events focused on the target audiences, represent the PGA of America at recruiting events, build relationships with event leadership.
  • Build relationships with event participants and provide resources for them to pursue careers in the golf industry including but not limited to job profiles, material preparation, career planning.
  • Track progress of leads and recruits through PGA database and support their progress to PGA Membership
  • Build relationships with youth-focused community organizations and partners to support awareness of careers in golf with a focus on communities who are underrepresented in the golf industry.
  • Develop successful relationships with PGA Section representatives and assist in developing Section recruiting strategies.

Member Retention & Development:

Support the Regional Team in their service to PGA Professionals and Employers.

  • Support the growth and awareness of PGA Member benefits to PGA Professionals, PGA Sections, and the regional teams
  • Create recognition across the industry and increases PGA professional utilization of Association programs and services in our key areas.
  • Promote the use of employment services to increase the responsibilities and compensation of PGA Professionals.
  • Support and provide education to PGA Professionals, PGA Sections, and employers on best practices and strategies for recruiting talent.
  • Promote Player Engagement Programs and facility enhancement programs, such as PGA Operations Benchmark
  • Build and nurture productive business relationships.
  • Conduct training programs
  • Maintain records; prepare and submit reports on membership use of programs and services to the Regional Teams and Membership and Education Departments.
  • Keep informed of changes in assigned territory which may affect membership participation.
  • Support PGA Section member focused activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in sports management, business, professional golf management, marketing or related subject preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three years of experience in golf operations, golf association administration, or golf industry management role preferred. Employment/club relations experience, career counseling, diversity, equity and inclusion training, and Human Resources management training or experience preferred.

Former high school, or higher, golf team experience preferred.

Current or past affiliation with the PGA sections/region being served preferred.

Previous experience in a PGA section leadership role preferred.

PGA Member preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Must have knowledge of internet and web-based software. Must have knowledge of all PGA Membership activities and policies. Must have skills in word processing and spreadsheet software applications; skills in graphic software applications; skills in database applications. Ability to be proficient and confident in public speaking situations. Must have the ability to develop and learn technical processes; Must have knowledge of Google Workspace.

Ability to travel up to 25%, to assist members and sections with our recruitment objectives

The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.

Pay: $60,000 – $70,000 per year
