Position: Recreation Specialist III – Lifelong Learning Assistant

General Description:
The purpose of this position within the organization is to assist a Program Coordinator with Lifelong Learning in the City of Rock Hill. Lifelong Learning @ Rock Hill is a recreational learning program for adults age 50+. This class works under direct supervision according to set procedures. Exceptional communication skills are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other web-based programs and systems is essential. This position is highly interactive and requires a candidate who enjoys interacting with the community on a daily basis.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires high school graduation or GED equivalent, or specialized vocational training. Six months to one year of work experience required. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
Special Certifications and Licenses;A valid driver’s license is required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serves a work shift lead to support parks and facility daily operations including but not exclusive to safety, programs, concessions, admissions, or special events as needed to meet the goals of the department.
- Assists and/or responsible for opening and closing of parks and facilities.
- Complete daily reports, work requests and incident reports as required.
- Observes safety rules in order to maintain safe parks and facilities.
- Participates in cross training opportunities.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to assist with custodial duties and minor maintenance needs.
- Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.
- Work is performed on site the incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
