JOB SUMMARY
This position is part of Utah Transit Authority’s Claims and Insurance Department. The Recovery Adjuster processes all first-party claims and handles recovery of UTA damages against third parties. Investigates accidents involving company assets and/or employees to determine legal liability and potential for recovery; negotiates settlements with responsible parties or their agents; and provides claims support such as answering and routing phone calls, and as needed performs claims data entry, filing, and other clerical duties. There may be some handling of minor property damage losses and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) cases as assigned by the Claims and Insurance Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:Insurance related accreditation or designation from Insurance Institute of American or similar accrediting institution. Associate degree in a business-related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three years claims/insurance experience. Basic proficiency in MS Excel and Word. Familiar with the claims process, highly motivated, and able to work without direction. Able to resolve and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Recognizes and understands key issues.
Must have a valid Utah driver’s license with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years and no more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance. This job requires an initial and annual credit check.
