Position Overview
The PV Designer is responsible for designing code-compliant PV systems and generating documents to obtain all required permits and utility interconnection approvals. The person in this position will need to be a self starter, collaborative, and detail oriented. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a large volume of projects while demonstrating excellent focus and teamwork. This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico) and full-time remote candidates.
Job Responsibilities
- Design residential PV systems to meet customer, company, code, and utility requirements
- Optimize PV system size to meet customer goals
- Understand the interconnection requirements for each utility company
- Use AutoCAD to create drawings and documents as required for permits and interconnection applications
- Coordinate with managers to prioritize work and ensure projects are ready to permit based on installation schedules
- Coordinate with structural and electrical engineers and other professionals to obtain approvals and stamped drawings as required.
- Complete the bill of materials (Sales Order) listing all equipment, labor, subcontractor costs, ect.
- Provide Project status updates and notes in software program (NetSuite)
- Perform energy production estimates and optimize PV system design
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Bachelor of Science in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering, architecture OR 2 year Degree or Certificate from a Technical College; equivalent work experience may be considered
- Minimum 1 year of solar design experience
- Experience design with Enphase Microinverters a plus
- NABCEP certification a plus
- Experience with Netsuite a plus
- Experience with Google Workspace a plus
- Excellent skills in AutoCAD (Experts in other CAD software considered)
- Experience designing with Scanifly software output a plus
- Knowledge of and experience with National Electric Code and PV System Design
- Knowledge of residential and commercial construction
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical design theory and concepts
- Acute attention to detail

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer for 8+ hours per day.
