ABOUT THIS ROLE:
As a Telecommunicator, you will provide service and assistance to residents, visitors, and public safety partners. You will be responsible for responding to 911 calls promptly, as well as entering and dispatching emergency calls from citizens to public safety personnel in a high-pressure call center environment.

Previous experience as a 911 operator; certified in CPR, EMD and APCO; foreign language; ability to type; ability to give instructions over the phone; ability to deal with the public under stressful situations.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Work is scheduled 24/7 and includes holidays and weekends. The squads each work four (4) days or nights and then are off for four (4) days. The shifts are 12 hours long; either from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. There is one (1) squad that works straight days, one (1) squad that works straight nights, and two (2) squads that work rotating shifts (days and nights). Placement on specific squads/shifts is not guaranteed. Must be available for duty around the clock.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass a software-based application skills test; Must pass a polygraph, drug testing, criminal history check, a physical, hearing test and a psychological exam; Must obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch and VCIN certifications while in training; Must be available to work 24/7 shift schedule.
ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $22.68 – $23.11 Hourly

Full-time and part-time Prince William County Government employees are eligible to participate in our plans; however, the level and cost of benefits depends on the classification of the position.
