Promotions, Writer/Producer

Overview / Role Details:

A rare opportunity to join the award-winning KCBS / KCAL in-house creative team in Los Angeles, California. Must possess a true passion for creating unique visual multi-platform marketing in a :30, :20, :10, :05 and rapidly changing digital, social, and streaming world.

KCAL / KCBS is the place to produce the kind of creative work most promotions departments dream of, where the focus is on the art of effective News Branding, Marketing and Advertising… instead of simple (often forgettable) “promotion”.

Our team is searching for a storyteller with expert-level writing, big strategic ideas and concepting skills who also possesses experience in nonlinear editing and audio sweetening. This is not an entry-level position, and previous news marketing experience is strongly encouraged.

A creative reel or links to work clearly demonstrating original concepts, smart copy and advanced post-production knowledge with a focus on Adobe Premiere and some After Effects is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate must be able to expertly write, plan and fully produce compelling short-form image, promotional spots, topicals, special report promos and occasional long-form content and digital / OTT projects as assigned. Candidate must have experience editing and creating with Premiere & occasional After Effects. Must be able to supervise graphics production, select and edit music and properly mix sound within their projects.

  • Deliver network quality work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Proven experience and promotional work samples at network-quality level.
  • Ability to remain calm and manage multiple projects under occasional extreme deadline pressure.
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, organization, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks when assigned.
