The Consor Strategic Planning and Communications practice is an award-winning team providing strategic planning, public involvement, facilitation, and communication services for public agencies and non-profit organizations. We work with clients to provide meaningful and inclusive opportunities for people to engage in the decisions that affect them. Our growing Seattle and Portland offices seek senior-level, community-minded individuals to provide strategic guidance, communication expertise, and project leadership for our Pacific Northwest clients.
Potential Salary Range: $130,000 – $160,000
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communications Strategy and Planning
- Develop and lead communication strategies and engagement processes that effectively reach and engage historically underrepresented, underserved, and disproportionately impacted groups.
- Craft compelling messaging and content tailored for diverse audiences using multiple communications channels, including fact sheets, newsletters, press releases, presentations, social media, flyers, reports, online open houses, web, and other digital content.
- Advise clients on engagement strategies, crisis communication, and issues management.
- Cultivate relationships with community partners, including community-based organizations
- Plan and facilitate in-person and virtual community events, workshops, stakeholder interviews, and focus groups to engage participants and lead to meaningful insights.
Project Management and Client Relations
- Serve as the project manager and main contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, managing expectations, and delivering exceptional service.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and reports.
- Oversee project teams, ensuring responsive service and timely project delivery.
- Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and teaming partners.
Business Development
- Build, and expand client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services and collaborations.
- Contribute to proposal development, including scope definition, budgeting, and proposal writing.
- Leverage industry expertise to identify initiatives that align with our service offerings.
Required Credentials
General guidelines (not strict requirements) for qualified candidates include:
- 10+ years’ experience managing or supporting communications and strategic planning efforts for utilities and public infrastructure projects or other topics that involve interacting with the public.
- Previous consulting experience on water, wastewater, transportation, or other public sector projects.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies to engage diverse and hard-to-reach, underrepresented, and underserved audiences.
- Four-year degree in communications, environmental planning, marketing, political science, public policy, or related field.
- Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to act on your feet often in high-profile situations.
- Excellent project management abilities including multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior written and oral communications skills with the ability to distill technical information into plain language for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated research and data analysis skill, with the ability to synthesize, review and present quantitative and qualitative data in easy-to-understand formats.
- Adept at building and maintaining relationships with clients, stakeholders, and teaming partners.
- Experience supporting business development, including proposal writing and scope development.
- A commitment to equity and demonstrated leadership working respectfully and professionally in diverse, multi-cultural settings.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting with a high level of initiative, creativity, tact, and professionalism.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.)
- Experience with project management software and systems a plus.
