Project Management Director, Focused Strategies Team

ENGIE North America is searching for a Project Management Director for our Focused Strategies Team. This role will be locatedin our San Jose CA location. The primary purpose is to focus on projects for customers with existing renewables installations that need repower, replacements, upgrades, major repairs, or add-on improvements. This specialized team will support acquisition integrations for customer projects built by 3rd parties and small construction projects. The Project Management Director will lead cross-functional assessments to derive best-practices across the organization. Oversee and execute project management team that will execute the full lifecycle of project activities.

What you’ll do:

  • Project Planning including development of implementation plans, contracting strategy, work break down structures, activities list, resource requirements, schedule and cost estimates to implement and administer the project relying on historical project plans
  • Project implementation and execution including working with internal and third-party resources to execute the strategy, deploying resources in engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, environmental, legal, accounting and financial management
  • Project monitoring and controlling including compliance with company policies including safety, environmental, approvals, procurement, and human resources at a minimum. Implement project cost code of accounts relying on the approved budget, establish quality assurance procedures conduct team meetings and check points for all major activities, and measure and report performance against baseline quality, cost and schedule expectations
  • Project closeout including handover to operations and documenting and communicating Lessons Learned
  • The Project Management Director reports work area progress, projects the final outcome, and controls and solicits approval of changes to the work area scope and contracts in regular meetings with, and written reports to, the project team and executive management
  • Provide regular reports to Engie Health and Safety team for review in effort to continually improve processes and safety procedures
  • Manage and direct the activities of team members leading small projects across multiple regions
  • Organize and lead acquisition integrations and vendor assessments
  • Develop integration plans, while engaging various department heads both internal and external to define integration timelines with implementation plans
  • Advise reporting and key accounts directors of what is needed to advance alarming capability and reportables for customer deliverables & satisfaction
  • Implement Synoptics 3E Analytics for all PV systems
  • Design and implement small construction projects
  • Train and support project manager & construction manager to build small construction projects
  • Create processes and training documents/videos to support new products & commissioning
  • Provide failure analysis support and assist commissioning manager to develop new testing procedures to head off failures and update trainings
  • Provide post construction customer support on technical issues for microgrids, e-mobility and renewable projects
  • Provide internal technical support for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) field services team for microgrids, e-mobility and renewable projects
  • Manage all post-construction asset damage; provide proposals, invoices and communications to Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) groups when needed
  • Create new partnerships and processes for decommissioning and recycling components from existing systems
  • Provide planned obsolescence designs and recommendations needed due to safety, code regulations or discontinued product situations
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in related field of Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural)
  • California Professional Engineer License Preferred
  • California Electrician Journeyman License Preferred
  • 10 or more years of experience in renewable energy (photovoltaic, energy storage, microgrids and e-mobility)
  • 10 or more years of experience in CA public works, certified payroll and labor compliance
  • 5 or more years of experience managing and leading a team
  • Required Certifications (OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, CPR)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook)
  • Proficient in PV Modeling software (AutoCad, PVsyst, HelioScope, SolarEdge Designer, EnergyToolbox, CPS String Sizing Tool)
  • Proficient with PQA’s, Multi-meters, Megger-meters and Solmetric testing tools
  • LEED Certification Preferred
  • NABCEP Certification Preferred

    • Essential Physical Abilities
      • Regular site walk activities include extensive all terrain walking, ladder climbing, wearing fall protection harness and up to CAT2 electrical PPE when required. Could involve some lifting
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to UV sunlight, typical atmospheric weather conditions, outdoor air quality and lifting up to 50lbs.
      • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Salary Range: $120,700.00 – $307,190.00 USD, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
