Project Management Advisor

The Project Manager is the primary manager of all phases of an energy project, with the objective of successful completion on time, and within budget, while maintaining quality, safety, and cash management standards, and producing strong customer references. Assigned projects will include a combination of energy efficiency measures, renewable generation installations, and various carbon reduction strategies, to help public sector customers in Northern California become more sustainable, save money, and improve processes in their facilities and services to their end-users. In this role, you will manage one to several projects simultaneously from early development through post-construction, including design, contract negotiations, and project implementation.

This position can sit in Oakland, CA or San Jose, CA and will report to the Director of Project Management.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as customer’s primary contact during development and implementation phases, and strive for their complete satisfaction with ENGIE’s services
  • Actively manage the project team through regular team meetings to discuss and document project updates, needs and progress
  • Manage all technical aspects of the project including scope development, savings analysis, and constructability of the measures to drive project scope and develop comprehensive programs that fit customers’ unique needs
  • Assign responsibilities to project team/establishes schedules for individual team members to investigate, develop and implement energy and water related customer improvements (such as solar PV, energy storage, LED lighting retrofits, HVAC/control upgrades, EV charging, water fixture and water meter retrofits, and SCADA upgrades)
  • Create, review and edit as necessary all customer deliverables including program development reports, presentations, contract documents, bid documents, and all internal documents including risk review packages, deal review documents and financial forecasts
  • Assist Sales team in customer presentations and interviews during the development phase
  • Prepare and negotiate, in conjunction with ENGIE Legal, Sales and Management, all customer/vendor contracts and change orders
  • Qualify vendors/subcontractors and source materials
  • Manage all cost components of the project during implementation, and maintain precise and updated actual costs versus budget throughout the project
  • Work with ENGIE’s construction manager and vendors/subcontractors to establish a project schedule (in both MS Project and Excel) with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement. Continually monitor progress against the schedule and adjusts as necessary, communicating any changes with sales, construction manager, subs/vendors, and the customer
  • Ensure that the customer has signed off on all project submittals
  • Manage the job to completion within the schedule
  • Issue regular job progress reports
  • Executes with accuracy all fiduciary requirements including installation budgets, revenue and expense invoices, project cash flow and monthly forecasts
  • Work with Accounting to invoice the customer monthly on each project
  • Complete budget analysis and forecasting on monthly basis for each project, while managing and approving all vendor invoices
  • Utilize Procore to ensure all construction project documentation is up to date and complete throughout implementation and at time of project closeout.
  • Work with Labor Compliance Team to ensure all local labor compliance regulations are met. Follow up with subcontractors as needed to assist Labor Compliance in collection of documents
  • Coordinate with post-construction teams and ensure that the monitoring set-up package (if applicable) and final job close-out information are completed on time

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience, including training and/or certifications
  • State Professional Engineering license preferred
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • Proficient in financial analysis skills to predict customer project economics and manage project budgets
  • Strong negotiation skills that protect ENGIE’s interests on a given project, while building customer and vendor/subcontractor rapport
  • Ability to prepare and write accurate customer reports and RFX responses, with attention to customer goals and needs
  • Capability to create and execute project development and delivery schedules
  • Excellent adherence to schedule, and collaborative problem-solving skills to maintain budget, schedule, and customer satisfaction
  • High standards of accuracy, appearance, and thoroughness of project documentation
  • Ability to review engineering work across all typical energy project scope types
  • Knowledge of contract scopes of work, and alignment with subcontractor scopes of work
  • Ability to review and improve energy analysis performed by others for all project sizes
  • Understanding of Project Engineer job responsibilities in project development
  • Understanding of customer contract scopes of work, and alignment with subcontractor scopes of work
  • Knowledge of durations and requirements of energy measure development and delivery
  • Prepare and understand proformas
  • Superior understanding of general construction methods and can work with the construction manager to implement the project

  • Must be available to travel up-to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Physical ability to conduct regular site walks.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.

  • Salary Range: $135,875-$236,600 USD, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
