Project Engineer, $55,000/yr, full-time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but not limited to:

  • Develop construction schedules, budgets, and material quantities.
  • Participate in subcontractor negotiations.
  • Perform evaluation of project documents for construction feasibility.
  • Review project documents for compliance to local, state, and federal codes; make sure that current engineering principles, practices, design, and technical standards are met.
  • Coordinate the design drawings between the structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, civil, architectural, and aquatics engineering plans from design development to project completion.
  • Maintains and performs project document control and procedures (coordinating RFIs, shop drawing and submittal process maintaining as-built drawings, etc.)
  • Develops and implements quality control plans and inspections. Maintains thorough records of quality control inspections.
  • Assists with site inspections from the design team to resolve constructability and site coordination issues and reviews and sign offs on functionality, AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements, and code compliance. Ensures that resolution is achieved and accepted by all partners.
  • Manage surveying for building construction.
  • Responsible for construction dewatering permit monitoring and stormwater management plan.
  • Manage and coordinate construction labors.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and general site activities.
  • Coordinates procurement, tracking, and inventory of materials and equipment to ensure on-time delivery to jobsite.
  • Assist with all aspects of construction.
  • Involved in and participates with overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
  • Hold regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate pertinent information to staff regarding department, company, and safety issues.
  • Set example for staff on how to create, maintain and evolve a high level of customer service to our guests, vendors, owners, and employees for Construction. Be open to and encourage suggestions for improvement.
  • Be alert to tasks that need to be done to fulfill this role in the organization and without being asked, takes initiative to see that they get done.
  • Uphold Hospitality Standards, Company Core Standards and Department Core Standards and observe Company policies and procedures.
  • Be the “End of the Line” and follow up on any situation that is not fully resolved at the time of the initial request.
  • Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with guests, owners, co-workers and vendors to satisfy their Accounting related requests, always being helpful and courteous.
  • Always adhere to Company appearance standards.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions and department staff meetings.

MARGINAL DUTIES: Functions that are not considered essential to the job:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follows company’s guidelines for environmental sustainability practices (recycling, reducing waste, conserving resources) and participating in the company’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Follows company’s guidelines for site safety practices. Conducts weekly safety inspections. Immediately stops and corrects unsafe work activity or site conditions. Adheres to all OSHA construction safety regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous construction and/or engineering experience – required
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in associated field – preferred
  • Fifth Year College program will be considered.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient computer & software skills including; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Adobe, Bluebeam, Autodesk, Navisworks, Procore, or similar.

CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES: Must possess a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in English; common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
