Job Description
The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with non-proliferation, counter-disinformation and strategic communications experts; is passionate about examining and countering state-proliferator imposed malign influence and disinformation campaigns – particularly those that aim to undermine nonproliferation norms – and building the capacity of international institutions to do so; and has experience working with U.S. or foreign government, technical, private sector, media, and/or civil society partners.
The Project Associate will support programming to counter state-sponsored malign influence and disinformation, specifically focused on supporting and strengthening international nonproliferation norms, countering malign state and proxy influence and aggression including disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda, that undermine institutions, and norms, amplify social divisions, destabilize democratic societies, manipulate political/electoral processes; raising awareness of the detrimental impacts caused by state-sponsored and proxy-backed media through targeted false narratives; and promoting strategies and practices among government entities, civil society, media, or technical communities to mitigate disinformation and misinformation threats.
Programming will include strengthening the capacity of international government entities and laboratories to identify and respond to suspected use of WMD on their territory; promoting strategies among government entities, civil society, and media to identify and combat disinformation that aims to undermine nonproliferation norms; and raising awareness of the detrimental impacts caused by state-backed military and security companies through weapons proliferation, degradation of national sovereignty, and human rights violations. Programming activities may take the form of meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences, grant-making, research competitions, email campaigns, or other activities, both in-person and virtual.
