Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) operates six Developmental Disabilities State Operations Offices (DDSOO) throughout the state. Each DDSOO is responsible for the direct provision of state-operated, person-centered services, supports and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. As a member of the Division of State Operations and under the supervision of the Director of State Operations Bureau of Planning and Quality Improvement, the Program Operations Specialist 1 (POS1) will be responsible for supporting priority initiatives development of policies that will have a statewide impact.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities of the POS1 may include but are not limited to, the following:
-Assist in the ongoing evaluation of the DDSOOs’ service delivery documentation practices to evaluate risk and to establish risk mitigation strategies
-Collect, review, and analyze quantitative data related to state operated programs and service documentation
-Develop and maintain priority reports and provide updates, recommendations, and analyses to state operations leadership
-Assist in the development and modification of survey instruments and data collection systems; establish tracking and reporting systems that identify facility practices, issues and the implementation of corrective actions
-Develop, update, and maintain program protocols, policies, and procedures for state operations, (e.g., overtime, fit testing data)
-Maintain knowledge of Medicaid Compliance standards, Medicaid service documentation and billing requirements
-Serve as a subject matter expert for service delivery documentation and utilization of the Electronic Health Record and other OPWDD-established systems
-Guide the DDSOOs’ efforts with establishing and managing core service delivery, operational, and business records
-Make recommendations to leadership on record keeping methods, tools, and service delivery, and assist in the development of program policy
-Coordinate efforts of subject matter experts across DDSOOs to develop solutions that will address programmatic issues
-Provide technical assistance and guidance to DDSOO designees to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
-Other duties as assigned
