Our The Starbucks Way team is an internal strategy team deployed to consult on enterprise projects that chart our company’s future. We untangle complex challenges, guide decisions, and build a variety of innovative approaches and solutions. This role will inspire a new generation of leaders by forming high-performing teams and standing up new avenues of pairing partner voices with accountable leaders to build our shared future. Consistently called on to demonstrate courageous leadership, drive alignment across senior executives, and act as a unifying force for cross-functional prioritization. Examples of this type of work include: leading efforts to co-author largescale strategy, spotlight programs for ELT and co-creation sessions targeting specific partner experience. Leadership – Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:

  • Leads high performing, cross-functional, often globally distributed teams to deliver a complex, multi-year, multifaceted programs.
  • Autonomously and appropriately applies knowledge, processes, skills, tools and techniques to project and program activities in order to meet cross-program goals.
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the cross-functional program team functions as one empowered team and achieves business results.
  • Demonstrates compelling storytelling, galvanizing partners around shared vision and purpose.
  • Pursues personal development opportunities to enhance ability to contribute to Starbucks success; acts as a role model for others in this area. Seeks out and initiates opportunities to strengthen leadership, business management and organizational expertise.

Planning and Execution – Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, driving change in ways of working and measuring results:

  • Negotiates for human, financial, and other resources on program-related matters and provides consulting guidance and leadership to program teams to realize the strategic business vision or desired result.
  • Identifies, communicates, and ensures resolution of all issues thoughtful of audience, leader level and business need.
  • Manages and monitors project or program schedules. Maintains, adjusts and updates project plans as needed.

Business Requirements – Consistently called on to demonstrate courageous leadership, drive alignment and act as a unifying force for shared prioritization:

  • Leads strategic project problem solving efforts by helping the team identify and define key issues, develop hypotheses and design required analyses. Provides problem solving leadership across entire project to cross- functional teams. Guides the team in thinking through complex and ambiguous issues, identifies creative information sources and approached and pushes the team to develop new insights. Oversees and reviews team analytics to ensure integrity and accuracy.
  • Provides guidance to cross-functional sub-teams allowing teams to develop shared sets of priorities and drive decisions to map key deliverables against strategic timelines.
  • Facilitates collaborative work environment that allows teams to co-author vision, problem statements and build an empowered group of partners with the skills and capabilities to match the workstream.

We’d love to hear from people with…

  • Experience leading strategy, management consultation and operations for organizations. (5 years)
  • Demonstrated ability to use digital analytics, customer feedback, user experience research, and other qualitative and quantitative metrics and insights to inform prioritization. (5 years)
  • Developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences. (5 years)
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams. (5 years)
  • Strong facilitation skills, comfortable in a consultation environment with senior-level executive participants.
  • A proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, while managing tactical deliverables and meeting deadlines.
