Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position has administrative responsibility for the coordination of complex academic program elements requiring collaboration with students, faculty, and other departments and programs. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply for the position of Program Manager, Student Research. This position will aid in managing administrative activities related to undergraduate and graduate student research in the following graduate programs: Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, MS Biology, MS Raptor Biology, and MA in Biology. The Student Research Program Manager will aid program coordinators and committees in the management of graduate programs; work with department administration to efficiently implement policies and procedures; advise students on research opportunities; maintain websites; manage information; assist with tracking progress and success of graduates (at the UG and grad level); communicate with students, faculty, staff, and the public; and be a part of a team working to provide exceptional opportunities for student training.
Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
60% of the Time the Academic Programs Coordinator must:
- Provides administrative support.
- Facilitates the delivery of required program services.
- Maintain students’ files/records.
- Analyzes data, generates and/or assists with, and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester).
- Provide support to student groups.
- Independently manage specific program activities.
- Planning and executing assigned projects and operations within the specified department
- May oversee the work of less experienced employees or students.
35% of the Time the Academic Programs Coordinator must:
- Fiscal Responsibilities:
- Program budget management
- Project and strategize future financial needs, taking into consideration the cost of various projects.
- Data Management and Analysis:
- Create reports and analyze data in areas of enrollment management, accreditation, program review, or assessment utilizing various software including PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and Faculty 180.
- Implement and recommend operating methods to improve data entry, processing, distribution, flow, and quality control
5% of the Time the Academic Programs Coordinator
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
- Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Salary starts at $46,051 and is commensurate with experience.
