Why does the job exist?

This position exists to develop, administer, and evaluate statewide professional development and professional learning delivered by the agency and its partners to educators in New Mexico. The Professional Learning Liaison (PLL) will develop a rubric to evaluate high-quality professional learning (PL) and professional development (PD) that is delivered by the Department, this includes PL/PD led by the Department or by a contractor funded through Department funds. The PLL will be responsible for training and technical assistance to all Department managers and directors as they prepare to deliver PD/PL to the field. Additionally, the PLL will design, develop, and implement a micro-credential system to enhance professional learning opportunities for NMPED staff and school personnel across the state.

How does it get done?

Develop technical assistance manuals for use by the Department, districts, and charter schools in the development of PL/PD, including rubrics used to evaluate the efficacy of PL/PD delivered by vendors across NM and the US. Deliver training on the use of these tools and create an online training that Department and field leaders can access at their convenience. (20%)
-Develop a rubric to evaluate all PL/PD delivered by the Department to ensure the efficacy of programs to improve outcomes for all students. (20%)
-evaluate and approve all PL/PD prior to delivery
-provide technical consultation to all Department managers/directors prior to submission for approval and follow up assistance when the program isn’t approved.
-monitor the delivery of approved PL/PD to recommend modifications that ensure the program delivered matches the approved program
-monitor and calendar all PL/PD conducted by the Department
-conduct post learning surveys to collect feedback from participants and improve future delivery
-Monitor all professional learning funds used by LEAs and the department to ensure they are used on approved trainings and vendors (30%)
-Design, develop, and implement a micro-credential system to enhance professional learning opportunities for NMPED staff and school personnel across the state (30%).

Ideal Candidate

5 or more years of experience with recruitment and retention, PK-12 Human Resources experience is a plus
~Educated in adult learning theory
~Experienced in and able to deliver content in person and in a virtual environment.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
