Production Planner I

The Role

The Production Planner at the STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies- Petaluma, CA facility provides scheduling and production planning support under the general supervision of the Production Manager. The Production Planner prepares and schedules Customer product processing and shipping; prepares and schedules dose mapping process runs; calculates product and process bulk densities; and determines optimal product loading configurations. In this role you will provide optimal levels of customer service by coordinating with our customers regarding all stages of product scheduling, processing, and shipping. You will also assist in the preparation of related processing documentation.

What You Will Do

  • Determines processing priorities by maintaining a master database of Customer deliveries, inventories, and shipments and planning the most economical and efficient schedule considering the Customer requirements, quality standards, and current availability of equipment, materials and manpower.
  • Publishes processing schedule by identifying products, process sequences, tests, and completion times including all supporting documentation and instructions.
  • Maintains the master inventory database and assists with preparation of process run and Certificate of Processing documentation to ensure accurate material handling and processing.
  • Completes post process files including reading dosimeters, labeling strip chart, creating certificates, etc.
  • Develops and revises product palletization specifications.
  • Assists in process discrepancy resolution, corrective action implementation and communicates discrepancies to the customers.
  • Maintains process schedule continuity by monitoring processing runs and Customer inventory, and revises schedule accordingly.
  • Coordinates with Customer to provide timely and accurate processing and shipping status information, as required.
  • Resolves scheduling problems by maintaining open and professional lines of communication with Customers and internal production staff.

What You Will Also Do

  • Assists with scheduling customer appointments against dock schedule and monitoring flow of deliveries. Reports variances to forecasted volume.
  • Maintains an historical process run database improving accuracy in process cycle times estimates and price quotations.
  • Drives safe working behavior by demonstrating and promoting safe work performance, ensuring effective safety communications and recognitions, identifying safety training needs, and counseling/training employees.
  • Communicates to customers in a courteous and professional manner providing timely, accurate and service-oriented responses and assistance.
  • Maintains current professional knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and participation in professional societies.
  • Protects company confidential information by properly storing, retrieving and disseminating such information to authorized individuals.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and reports unsafe conditions to facility management.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the AST shared values of Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement through ensuring defect-free workmanship, assisting others to meet the Customer’s needs, searching for efficient and effective ways to reduce waste, being active and accountable for Customer satisfaction, and satisfying the Customer’s needs with a sense of urgency.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Associate degree in related field with 2 years’ experience, or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sterilization operations, preferred.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently under general guidelines and supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work duties and responsibilities; ability to balance competing priorities in a fast paced, time sensitive, occasionally stressful environment.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Ability to navigate through defined computer screens.
  • Experience using MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizing and analytical skills including Math skills (four basic arithmetic functions in all units of measurement, decimals ratios, rates, percentages) to determine organizational Customer and regulatory problems and formulate corrective action plans.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Continuous improvement focus; ability to recommend solutions to increase efficiency of operation.

Starting Base Pay range for this opportunity is $65,000 – $74,000

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
