Position Summary:

The Teacher Created Materials Content Development team seeks a high-energy, detail- oriented, growth-oriented contributor on its Publishing Operations team. The Publishing Operations team contributes to product development by engaging with various systems to create and manage product data, mobilize essential production tasks and schedules, and facilitate clear communication across departments balancing quality, time, and cost. The Product Data and Development Specialist role coordinates and executes data management related tasks from initiation, to administration and maintenance, and finally to closeout. As a member of a highly collaborative team, the Product Data and Development Specialist will benefit from ongoing technical training, project management training, and an inside look at the operational strategies within our department and across our company.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Leads data management/organization and cross-functional communication for division-level projects.
  • Project initiation: develops core knowledge about new products; creates schedules and product data; creates initial Bills of Materials and oversees change management of Bills of Materials throughout
  • Project administration: maintains and updates schedules; updates product data to reflect changes during development; documents scope changes; facilitates clear communication of product and data changes cross-departmentally
  • Post Publication: archives schedules; facilitates new product announcements and project debriefs
  • Reporting: executes and distributes reports (including data gaps and cleansing exercises, internal/external cost analysis, project progress/status, risk management, etc.) to drive business decisions within divisions
  • Offers general assistance on various projects as they arise.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in project or data management, business, communication, or equivalent work experience + Project Management certificate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • 3+ years of professional experience in product data management, publishing, business or related field
  • Experience as project manager or within a project management work environment
  • Experience in publishing industry a plus
  • Experience with project scheduling a plus
  • Experience with Asana, NetSuite, and/or Salesforce a plus

  • Problem solver/self-starter who can organize complex processes and/or information involving multiple, detailed tasks and multiple inputs

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time, including at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
