This position serves as a Privileged Access Management Specialist working with Analysts and Architects of the Zero Trust / Least Privilege security model for the State of Illinois. This position will assist in securing the enterprise resources from cyber-attack. In this role you will perform daily review of requests for elevated privilege from users and applications. The Privileged Access Management Specialist will configure PAM tools to allow access in the most secure way for user’s assigned job duties while limiting potential data breaches. Job Responsibilities
35% Under immediate supervision, serves a Privileged Access Management (PAM) Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
- Performs with experienced PAM Analysts in a midrange computing applications enterprise to achieve least privilege in a zero-trust model.
- Assists in the support of computer systems to achieve the goals of least privilege in a zero-trust model.
- Assists in software configurations and scripting to limit user and application rights and privileges on workstations and servers.
- Assists with testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of systems in both a physical and virtual environment for software configuration and scripting to limit user and application privileges.
- Assists with systems administration of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Implements required fixes to correct problems defined during diagnostics.
- Documents problems and corrective action through Change Management systems.
- Performs routine maintenance on servers utilizing programmatic or scripted solutions.
20% Assists senior analyst in the configuration, testing, installation, documentation and maintenance of midrange computing systems and related peripheral system:
- Assists in ensuring these configurations comply with Agency security considerations for performance requirements, and established standards in a least privilege / zero-trust model.
20% Assist with the maintenance and server operating system patches and fix packs:
- Assists with providing support for server functions, including configuration, installation, and support of Windows Active Directory (AD) and network appliances utilizing a knowledge of server/client network configurations, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, VPN, and Internet and other server utilities.
- Tests and maintains computing systems.
- Utilizes Microsoft System Center Configuration Manger (SCCM) and Intune.
10% Works on assigned projects using various software systems including Microsoft Windows Servers, VMware, MS Office, MS Visio, MS automation, and MS Project.
10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of collect with coursework in computer science or directly related fields.
OR
2. Satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Elementary knowledge of Microsoft Server systems, VMware, and Microsoft Office Automation products.
- Elementary knowledge of software distribution products (including SCCM and or Intune).
- Elementary knowledge of server functions such as configuration, installation, and support of Windows Active Directory.
- Elementary knowledge of network communication concepts and principles such as server/client network configurations, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, and VPN.
- Elementary knowledge of computer programming and/or scripting, Risk Management and Remediation and the principles of least privilege / zero-trust.
