We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to drive the successful development of a new cloud operations model for third-party owned and operated sovereign clouds.
The Microsoft 365 Sovereign Clouds Success Team is responsible for driving the expansion of our products into sensitive and regulated markets that were previously unattainable with our public cloud offerings. We’re hiring a Principal Product Manager who will contribute to the development of a new cloud operations model for third-party owned and operated sovereign clouds.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
o OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience with an end-to-end software lifecycle methodology
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, as developer, product manager, or program manager
- Exceptional cross-organization coordination and communication skills including ability to build comprehensive and compelling presentation and communication materials that span functions and groups.
- Ability to organize and drive large, disparate groups for results
- Experience in operations in several of the following: security monitoring and response, incident management, customer support, software updates, identity, subscription management
- Compelling business acumen to ensure that the proposed Operations Model aligns with the Sovereign Cloud business model
- Proven experience in developing programs, gaining buy-in for them, and delivering them within tight timeframes and while dealing with ambiguity
- Excellent project management and execution skills and the ability to get what you need from others while working around their own legitimate priorities.
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required.
Product Management IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
The Principal Product Manager in this role will work as the liaison between the Microsoft 365 Global Clouds Sovereign Clouds Success Team and engineering teams who deliver and maintain Office products and services. The core focus of this role is to be the voice of the customer/partner and ensure that Microsoft engineering teams have a solid understanding of the Sovereign Cloud business and the operations model that is needed to run this third party owned and operated cloud.
The perfect candidate for this role will spend a considerable amount of time building relationships with members of the Microsoft 365 workload teams, as well as cross-org, that will create services, procedures, and tools in support of operating the third-party fully-instanced Sovereign Clouds. It is imperative that these teams understand the core requirements of these clouds, and the need for the National Cloud Ownership Entity to have control of their environment. The Principal Product Manager will ensure the customer’s needs are met while also ensuring that Microsoft can meet these needs in such a way that all investments benefit all Clouds, and all customers, and gains operational efficiencies for all.
You’ll work collaboratively with Microsoft’s partners and relevant governmental agencies, as appropriate, to represent the company’s position.
