We are seeking a Principal Design Director with demonstrated desktop and mobile app design experience to help us drive the future of the Edge Browser. W e’re looking for a leader with both world-class design skills and people management skills; you should have visual and interaction design skills, experience managing individual contributors and managers , and th e ability to navigate ambiguity. You will lead your team to concept, prototype , and evangelize new customer experiences , including experiences powered by generative AI, as well as help evolve our design system, working across teams to bring design coherence to our framework and create beautiful, inclusive, and accessible experiences that customers love.
Qualifications:
Required q ualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design , Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years’ experience working in product or service design
- OR Master’s Degree in Industrial Design , Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
- 3 + years people management experience

Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated experience designing and prototyping for desktop and mobile app experiences
- Demonstrated sense of interaction design attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility and inclusive design
- Demonstrated visual design skills
- Demostrated communication and presentation skills, with the ability to energize teams and advocate for your ideas
- Experience designing in Figma
Product Design M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
- Drive team to design and prototype for one of the most popular web browsers worldwide, generative AI experiences, rapid prototyp ing , and design ing for first-to-market experiences
- Lead experience strategy, interaction design, creative direction, and craftsmanship for the browser overall as well as various product features
- Design and prototype experiences that connect with existing products and services
- Manage a multidisciplinary team, creating clarity, generating energy , and delivering results
- Drive cross-team collaborations among your team and other designers, researchers, program managers, product planners, and engineers from early product stages to implementation
- Understand the behaviors, motivations, and needs of our customers to develop relevant and impactful experiences to drive growth and engagement
- Contribute to strategic product planning via experience roadmaps
- Propose creative asolutions to complex user experience journeys, drawing on your ability to map end-to-end experiences
- Identify new opportunities and generate innovative ideas to improve our processes, products, and culture, influencing design direction and research methodologies
