Position Title Post Graduate Fellow/Center Manager Position Number 896691 School/Division School of Law Department Legal Hand Call-in Center Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description
The Hofstra Law Legal Hand Call-in Center serves Nassau and Suffolk counties and its mission is to train community volunteers, who are not lawyers, to provide information, assistance and referrals to those in need and help resolve issues affecting their lives in areas such as housing, family, immigration, employment, and public benefits, and try to prevent problems from turning into legal actions. The Post Graduate Fellow serves as the Center Manager and reports to and assists the Center Attorney with the operations of the Call-In Center. Please be advised this position is grant funded and is subject to the availability of grant funds. This is a full-time position and occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be expected as a part of the position.
Qualifications
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Recruits, trains, and manages Center volunteers.
- Develops and provides training, community outreach, and educational materials to clients.
- Maintains Center technology.
- Prepares and maintains Center record keeping and reports.
- Works closely with the Center’s community partners, other legal service providers and practitioners, local Bar Associations, alumni, donors, members of the judiciary, faculty, administrators, and students to further the purpose and impact of the Center.
- The Post Graduate Fellow will receive assistance from and supervise law students.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Center Attorney.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree, required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with various outside contacts and constituencies.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary/Salary Range $60,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience and education.
