Police Fleet and Facility Manager
JOB TITLE: Police Fleet and Facility Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Police Department
SUPERVISOR: Assigned Lieutenant
SALARY: $51,365 to $71,910 per Year
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision, the Fleet and Facility manager serves as coordinator, liaison, project supervisor and/or analyst in overseeing all vehicle fleet and building related activities, ensuring vehicles and facilities are safe and well-functioning, as assigned for the Police Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fleet Manager
- Makes minor repairs to Department vehicles.
- Works with City Fleet Maintenance to schedule maintenance and maintain maintenance and repair records of Department vehicles.
- Responsible for the issuance, inventory, and maintenance of assigned vehicles to all police employees.
- Ensures all vehicles are properly registered and insured. Supervises disposal of outdated and/or surplus vehicles and equipment.
- Prepares, documents, and files damage and/or restitution claims for Department vehicles and associated equipment.
- Prepares the annual bid and purchase of new police vehicles.
- Reviews bid proposals, research, and negotiates pricing and contracts in compliance with Department budget.
- Manages the KEYPER system and maintains accountability of the spare vehicle fleet.
Facility Manager
- Makes minor repairs to Department facilities.
- Schedules maintenance and maintains maintenance and repair records of Department facilities.
- Coordinates the work of custodial employees.
- Coordinates snow removal on police property.
- Responds to emergencies involving building systems and coordinates repairs.
- Maintains the Department vehicle wash bay and associated equipment.
- Manages the assignments of lockers in both locker rooms ensuring each officer has an assigned locker.
- Supervises disposal of outdated and/or surplus facility equipment.
- Reviews bid proposals, research, and negotiates pricing and contracts in compliance with Department budget.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and approves invoices for payment.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Operate office equipment including a personal computer and job-related software applications.
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

- Complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Department policies and procedures with regard for personal safety and that of other employees and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
High school diploma or GED. Some vehicle and building maintenance experience.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
Work closely with others in an office environment, indoor, and outdoor environment; irregular work hours; and exposure to inclement weather.
