Hourly Rate: $18.00
Job Summary
Swim Instructors teach in-water group and semi-private lessons to children 18 months through 14 years old. Classes are held primarily in the evening.
General Duties
- Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with curriculum.
- Able to build and maintain positive relationships with participants and parents, providing daily constructive feedback.
- Tracks program attendance and progress.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as needed.
- Organizes and maintains equipment, reports all damaged equipment to supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, positive and family friendly program atmosphere.
- Maintain positive relationships with parents, participants and other staff members.
- Assist facility staff to ensure all facility, Town of Vernon and Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedure are followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of age.
- Previous experience instructing swim lessons.
- Posses American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or obtain certification prior to the start of employment.
- Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
- Reliable transportation required.

- Must be in good physical conditions.
- Able to lift objects in excess of 30 pounds.
- Able to concentrate for extended periods of time.
- Able to sit, stand and swim for extended periods of time.
- Able to attend to tasks for 60 minutes.
- Able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination.
- Able to see objects closely and far away.
- Able to hear normal sounds with background noise.
- Possible exposure to blood, body tissues or fluids.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions.
