Under the supervision of the Ingham County Medical Director, provides medical consultations with Ingham County residents at mobile health unit and vaccination events. Oversees the medical operations of mobile health unit and temporary vaccination clinic events. Interprets and advises residents regarding onsite screenings such blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and other same-day rapid screenings conducted at mobile health events. Assists HIV and HCV education specialists with resident counseling regarding onsite rapid HIV and HCV test results. Assists lead poisoning prevention specialists with resident education regarding onsite rapid lead poisoning test results. Answers resident questions about COVID, HIV, HCV and other communicable diseases. Answers resident questions and provide health educations about chronic disease management. Refers residents to health care navigation resources provided by Ingham County Health Department. Oversees vaccinators and vaccine preparation. Transports vaccine to and from events and ensures proper handling. Responds to site emergency medical events to provide first-line medical care until EMS arrives.
Essential Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following:
- Assess health status of patients consistent with education and training, through appropriate health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.
- Provide care for acute/chronic medical illness and preventative services in accordance with national recognized standards
- Perform proper referral to specialists as deemed necessary
- Provide clinical supervision and consultation to nurse practitioners and physician assistants as assigned
- Provide leadership of the medical team which they are assigned(RN/LPN/medical assistants)
- Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary providers
- May provide supervision and preceptorship to students and residents
- Assist the Medical Director in updating medical policies and guidelines in accordance to national standards.
- Expected to participate in quality improvement, compliance and incentive programs
- Participate in peer review as assigned by the Medical Director
- Participate in committees as assigned by the Medical Director
- Appropriate documentation, timely completion of billing and submission through the Electronic Health Record system for all clinical care
- Mandatory internal education as assigned.
- Participate in assigned Ingham County Health Department functions
- Other duties as assigned
Other Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must adhere to departmental standards in regard to HIPAA and other privacy issues.
- During a public health emergency, the employee may be required to perform duties similar to, but not limited, to those in his/her job description.

Employment Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine
Post-Graduate: Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency program
Experience: One year of post full licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine is preferred but completion and submission of appropriate residency training may be substituted.
Credentialing: The provider will be Board Eligible or Board Certified (Recommend) in appropriate specialty. Board Eligible individuals are expected to complete Board Certification within 2 years of employment. Maintenance of certification is required.
Other Requirements:
Applicant should have an unrestricted license to practice medicine/osteopathic medicine in the state of Michigan.
Compliance with continuing medical education as directed by both state and accrediting agencies

- This position performs light work requiring the ability to exert 20 pounds or less of force in the physical requirements above.
- This position primarily requires close visual acuity to perform tasks within arm’s reach such as: viewing a computer screen, using measurement devices, inspecting and assembling parts, etc.
- This position requires the ability to communicate and respond to inquiries both in person and over the phone.
- This position requires the ability to operate a PC/laptop and to enter & retrieve information from a computer.
- This position requires the ability to handle varying and often high levels of stress.
