What you will be doing: Do you consider yourself someone with top-notch customer service and organizational skills? The Party Host & Rentals positions is responsible for day-to-day rental management at the Erie Community Center and at Town-owned parks/shelters across Erie. This role will get to interact with residents planning fun parties and events, and will show our community how we connect them to fun! The Parks & Recreation Department is committed to a positive work culture where we serve the community, support one another, and invest in you as an employee.
ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time to include mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs.
Summary of Duties
Manager Duties
- Assist the Coordinator in performing daily duties in a variety of recreation and rental operations. This includes, but is not limited to, shelter rentals, rentals, and birthday parties at the Erie Community Center
- Act as Manager on Duty and lead or assist with rental operations and aid in internal and external rental events.
- Provide exceptional guest service to all guests. Respond to information requests, comments, and complaints from the public.
- Maintain work area, facilities, equipment, and reports.
- Set up, tear down of event related equipment required, including but not limited to tables, chairs, tents, trash cans, signage, decorations, photo booth and other event/rental related items.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- May assist with training staff or volunteers.
- Ensure the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests while creating a fun environment. Report safety concerns as needed.
- Remain composed and makes sound judgments in any emergency or non-emergency situation. Respond to emergency situations, administers first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed, and complete incident reports.
- Maintain frequent communication with staff within the Community Center and Division and reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.
- Provide direct supervision for staff during birthday parties, events, and rentals.
- Communicate program information or needs to the participants, parents, and/or community members.
- Organize and facilitate games and/or activities.
- Manage event supply inventory to include preparing and collecting supplies, monitoring inventory, and making recommendations for new purchases.

- Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards.
- Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed.
- Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility.
- Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance.
- Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission.
Other/Miscellaneous
- Perform other related work as required and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED preferred. One year related customer service, recreation or related experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully pass all required employment screens that may include but not be limited to a Criminal Background Check.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
- Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications within three months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate basic knowledge of event equipment use and maintenance, facilities, operations, supplies, and anticipates event operational needs. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and policies, including safety regulations also required.Skills in: Providing outstanding customer service to a diverse guest population; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community, may include instruction, communication of rules and regulations and enforcing policies; time management; presenting verbal and written information; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; problem solving; following and enforcing all rules, regulations and policies; recognizing safety hazards and sanitation issues and notify supervisors; safely operate a variety of recreation related equipment; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification.Environmental Factors: Work is performed in a standard indoor/outdoor event environment. Work may involve competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines.Physical Factors:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasionally lift storage boxes and other event supplies and equipment of 30lbs or more.
