Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator, incumbent must be able to work flexible hours during weekdays and weekends. Incumbent responsibilities include but not limited to facilitating building rentals, assisting with community and city events, and filling in for recreational staff. Incumbent will assist with facilitating and staffing community events, city events, and building rentals. The incumbent may conduct, participate and/or supervise leisure activities for all ages. Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising recreational programs for youth when filling duties as a recreational leader.

Examples of Essential Functions

Facilitates and monitors building rentals. Completes rental paperwork, ensures proper building condition, and monitors for cleanliness and adherence to building rental policies.

Greets the public, directs accordingly and forwards requests/concerns to proper staff. Answers phone calls and all requests in a professional and courteous manner.

Assists with facilitating, advertising, and hosting community and city events including, but not limited to, Movie in the Park, Spring Fling, public meetings, Sailfish Sprint, community nights, etc.

Assists in planning, organizing, and leading quality activities for youth and adult programs.

Assists in the direction and supervision of social recreation play and team activities of children in outdoor/indoor play areas. Teaches rules and playing skills of standard team and individual games and activities.

Maintains records of attendance, program activities, equipment and supplies, and incident reports as necessary.

Transports seniors to community events and activities as needed.

Maintains safety and health standards at all times while encouraging healthy and safe behaviors. Provides basic first aid and guidance to program participants and citizens, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Training and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in Recreation programming or a combination of training and experience.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.
