Description
Bond Park is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals at least 16 years of age to support daily operations at the Bond Park Boathouse as a Park Aide I. This position is responsible for supporting lakefront operations, enforcing park rules, and assisting visitors.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. This position extends through the first week of November, when the Boathouse closes for the season.
This position requires availability to work weekends and holidays. Work will primarily take place on weekends.
Typical Tasks
Assists with opening and/or closing of boathouse daily;
Unlocks, cleans and prepares boats for rental operations;
Assists patrons on/off boats and provides a positive boat rental experience to customers;
Performs light maintenance and general cleaning of boats, equipment, beach and dock area;
Provides routine information on rules and regulations, departmental policies, procedures and services;
Follows up with supervisor with oral and written reports;
Enforces Town of Cary policies and park rules and regulations;
Seeks assistance and support from Park Attendants and Boathouse Managers when necessary;
Assists with concession item preparation;
Supports park operation including events, programs, handling recycling and trash removal, filling bird feeder tubes, and stocking trail and informational brochures;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires some knowledge of boating and water safety; general knowledge of park, facility or outdoor center operations; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to the established deadline; skill in the operation of common office equipment; proficiency with personal computers and Windows based software; strong time management skills; ability to effectively engage with the public; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work independently on assigned projects and programs; ability to deal with the public in a firm but tactful manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center and preserve, division and department; ability to maintain filing systems.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Prefers CPR/First Aid certification. If applicant does not possess certification, then it must be obtained upon employment. Courses are offered by employer.
Prefers some customer service experience.
Must be physically able to move about the park on rough terrain and lift moderately heavy items, such as trash bags, marine batteries, canoes and related equipment and supplies.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification, and credit history review) prior to employment
