Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for the intake and processing of Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests submitted to the Taxation & Revenue Department (TRD) by the public. In addition, it provides paralegal and legal assistance/support to attorneys in the Taxation & Revenue legal department.
How does it get done?
This position:
* Files pleadings with courts and the Administrative Hearing Office
* Maintains a computer software database for Information in Public Records Act (IPRA) requests
* Reviews and redacts documents that are the subject of Information in Public Records Act (IPRA)
* Calendars critical dates and deadlines for attorneys
Who are the customers?
Attorneys within Taxation and Revenue and members of the public who file Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
* A Paralegal degree and or substantial paralegal experience
* Experience responding to Inspection of Public Record Act (IPRA) requests using a public records portal such as Gov QA
* Superior organizational, time management and calendar management skills
* Experience using Microsoft Office Suite,Adobe and Odyssey File and Serve
* The ability to perform multiple tasks having tight deadlines
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and two (2) years of experience drafting and preparing legal correspondence, conducting legal research and maintaining a case management/tracking system. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Desplay (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage, and includes contact with adult imates/offenders.
