Summary

As a Thrive OST Instructor Lead (Out of School Time) you will implement and adapt a wide variety of enrichment activities for grades K-8 in an after-school program setting and a summer mini-camp program setting. The TOSTI plays a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, interactive, and enriching program experience while ensuring the safety and security of all program participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Lead role will support the leadership of the day-to-day operations of the program.
• Assist the Mentoring Manager, Child Thrive Coordinator, and other Leadership staff in the development of activity plans, community events, and field trips.
• Lead will also prepare the day’s materials and supplies prior to the start of the program and may be responsible for the breakdown and clean-up of program space and materials.
• Lead will assist program leadership with parent communication.
• Lead will provide supervisory support for team members in the absence of program leadership.
• Create a safe, supportive, interactive, and engaging environment for Out of School Time participants.
• Provide a positive experience for participants by acknowledging their efforts and accomplishments, while aiding and encouraging program participants when needed.
• Provide effective supervision of program participants.
• With the assistance of the Program Lead, develop daily and/or weekly lesson and activities plans that consider diverse abilities and interests and meet program quality, safety, and policy requirements.
• Ensures materials and supplies are available and ready for daily program activities and ensures all program areas and supplies are clean and well maintained regularly.
• Models self-control, respect, and cooperation to teens and other team members.
• Utilize arrivals/departures to share information and to build relationships with parents/guardians.
• Maintains accurate attendance, instructional, and other records as necessary to meet program requirements.
• Participates in team meetings and other special events.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Must be at least 21 years of meet program requirements for education and/or credentials.
• H.S. Diploma or GED along with related college coursework and/or equivalent experience in childcare, education, recreation, or related program.
• Must have the proven ability to establish constructive relationships and interact as a positive role model for youth and staff demonstrating the values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty.
• Commitment to and passion for the Children’s Place Associations mission is required. Including a passion for working with diverse youth.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts and tailor communication to multiple audiences.
