Where You Will Work:

This position is located, and requires the ability to work, in and throughout the Southwest Florida Counties (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, DeSoto, Sarasota, Hendry, Glades, Highlands, Monroe).

Pay:

$18.00 per hour; maximum of 28 hours per week.

No benefits or insurance is included with this position.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Ensure all processed work products (i.e. permit of applications, including the 404, incoming and outgoing e-correspondence, compliance inspection reports, sampling and other reports, database and tracker updates, records and e-files, mail) are accurate, completed timely and processed in accordance with established standard operating procedures, requirements and policies. Primary duties typically includes performing the following administrative activities: processing and routing of permit applications and other regulatory documents in order to achieve time-to-process metrics, providing exceptional customer service (i.e. greeting customers, answering and routing incoming calls, processing e-files, scanning and uploading e-files), corresponding and interacting with staff, the public and the regulated community, operating office equipment, picking up mail and working closely with others in a team setting, supporting district operations and participating in work flow improvement initiatives.

Customer Service

Identify and meet the needs of customers in order to provide excellent customer service. Communicates proactively and in a clear consistent manner. The incumbent is expected to be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and concerned at all times in their interactions with customers when representing the Department.

Outreach, Efficiencies, and Cost Savings

Support, participate, and assist in external outreach events (compliance assistance workshops, facility to reduce regulatory burden and enhance relationships with the Department’s stakeholders or general public. Identify potential areas to improve procedures and offer solutions to improve workplace efficiencies.

Training and Safety

Participate with internal training events/activities to gain the essential skills needed to perform job duties. Consistently follow safety protocols and notify management of any potential safety hazards. This includes participating in safety events, job shadowing, on the job training, and team building initiatives as directed by management. Self-advocate for training and partner with appropriate district staff to learn about multiple DEP program areas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  3. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure completion of work assignments without close supervision
  4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally in person, over the phone, and in writing..

  6. Skilled in the use of personal computers including the functional use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and the ability to learn DEP proprietary software.
  7. Ability to work independently.
  8. Ability to apply critical thinking when making decisions.
  9. Ability to track and coordinate multiple projects.
  10. Ability to be adaptable, flexible, resourceful and to maintain a positive outlook.
  11. Ability to maintain a valid Class E Florida driver’s license and travel overnight when required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
