GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Liberal Arts program seeks a charismatic individual to coordinate essential function of the Liberal Arts departments including collaborative initiatives with other departments in the college and community stakeholders. The Liberal Arts Program at Kirkwood represents four distinct academic departments on Kirkwood’s campus- Arts & Humanities, Communication, English & Media, Math & Science, and Social Science. The ideal candidate will support and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration in the program to aid in building of course schedules, organize, promote and execute program events, including performing arts, guest lectures, distinguished faculty lecture series, campus visits, and more. The operations coordinator will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other departments across the college, including admissions, marketing, and The Kirkwood Foundation. This position requires independent judgement, problem-solving skills, a high level of organization, and attention to detail. Candidates should be able to articulate the importance of a Liberal Arts education to a broad community.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotion and Coordination of Liberal Arts student interests including The Cedar Valley Divide, Communique, Kirkwood Student Productions, and Liberal Arts student clubs and activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty to plan and execute program conferences, campus visits, and audition days.
  • Work collaboratively with admissions and advising to provide Liberal Arts support for campus visit days, orientation, and campus tours.
  • Serve as the point of contact between the Liberal Arts Program and Kirkwood marketing to facilitate website updates, programs, posters, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Manage Social Media for the Liberal Arts program, including social media channels for other specific areas within Liberal Arts.
  • Coordinate internal and external entertainment requests.
  • Assist Departments with course schedule building and room reservation needs
  • Assist department deans in budget monitoring
  • Work closely with The Kirkwood Foundation in awarding of discipline specific scholarships for Liberal Arts areas. This includes award budget monitoring, maintaining lists of active student scholarships, and enrollment requirements, and serving as the point of contact between faculty, students, and Kirkwood Foundation regarding award status and requirements.
  • Contract Management for Liberal Arts program. This includes inputting paid guests through the Cobblestone Contract Management system, ensuring needed paperwork is collected and processed before the event, and submitting payment authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Liberal Arts discipline.
  • Successful event or program coordination or related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in education or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a Liberal Arts discipline.
  • Community College work experience or Professional Conference or Event planning experience
  • Experience working with event promotion on social media and other marketing platforms.
