Why does the job exist?
The Private Postsecondary Schools Division (PPSD) of the New Mexico Higher Education Department (HED) is responsible for registering and licensing over 100 private post-secondary educational institutions that offer both face-to-face and/or distance education.
How does it get done?
Duties of the position includes:
* Reviews applications and monitors private and out-of-state public higher education institutions and will evaluate institutions.
* Performs compliance monitoring, data collection and reporting,
* Provides technical assistance and customer service to stakeholders on the electronic application process,
* Maintain data for the PPSD Division.
* Manage student transcripts of closed private post-secondary educational institutions by collaborating closely with a third-party student transcript provider.

Internal HED Divisions, Higher Education Institutions, Legislative Committees, and Executive Agencies
Ideal Candidate
– Experience with data collection, reporting and compliance monitoring
– Ability to provide training and customer service on electronic processes
– Experience with public higher education institutions
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and two (2) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
