Nonprofit Community Program Manager, Microsoft Philanthropies

Microsoft Philanthropies is a global, multi-disciplinary team that brings together corporate social responsibility, sales, and engineering functions to help drive inclusive economic growth. The Microsoft Philanthropies team is setting up a new Nonprofit Community Capacity team and is looking for a Nonprofit Community Program Manager. The goal of the team is to engage, elevate, empower, and convene nonprofits that work with Microsoft. Building and fostering this community will enable continued dialogue, partnership, volunteering, thought leadership, technology adoption and capacity-building for our nonprofit community made up of our grantees, skilling partners and nonprofit technology adopters . The new team will b uild, inspire , and foster the community of nonprofits supported by Microsoft through an online community plat form . The Nonprofit Community platform will be the go-to technology hub to address nonprofit questions about digital transformation, skilling , and AI innovation. The Nonprofit C ommunity Program Manager will report to the new head of the Nonprofit Community Capacity team and is responsible for managing and executing community programs through the Nonprofit Community platform and other channels across Microsoft’s social impact initiatives . This role has core responsibilities to curate and create nonprofit content, drive engagement , and to recruit new nonprofit members to the community platform.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 6+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manager roles in the nonprofit industry or community programs working with C-suite leaders, board members and thought leaders
  • U nderstanding of how the nonprofit sector leverages technology
  • Experience with marketing to and for nonprofits and hosting large convenings with multiple stakeholders, executives, and influencers
  • Experience designing new strategies and programs to meet audience needs and company priorities
  • Understanding of c ommunity and nonprofit ecosystem, trends, leaders, influencers and partners especially at the intersection of technology and social impact
  • Ability to analyze and understand key drivers in the ecosystem and how nonprofits and companies are responding
  • Social media management and editorial calendar experience
  • Communications /content experience aligned to the nonprofit industry
  • Expe rience with web analytics and measurement
  • Experience working in a global, highly matrixed company

Business Program Management IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 – $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 – $213,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
Community Program Content:

  • Curate and repurpose content from Microsoft Philanthropies (MSP) to create a hub for relevant content for community.
  • Lead and publish research for the community that provides compelling content on AI and other trending topics for nonprofits to r espond quickly to sector trends and driv e demand, leads and engagement.
  • Execute regular cadence of end-to-end editorial calendar updates on MSP announcements, events, and industry moments to centralize calendar across stakeholders who support nonprofits.
  • Work with public affairs to execute, design or curate key stories from our strategic nonprofit partnerships focused on skilling, innovation, and economic opportunity.
  • Work with events team and platform teams to lead content and themes as aligned with the MSP overall editorial calendar.

Community Engagement:

  • Lead and drive editorial content for our LinkedIn group – Microsoft for Nonprofits – with key internal SMEs including tech demand generation content teams and skilling leads and partner with the LinkedIn for Nonprofits group.
  • Work closely with community platform lead the recruit efforts for the nonprofit strategic partners to onboard and drive engagement on our channels.
  • Analyze engagement across the platform to continue to build more interactive momentum to keep community engagement active and personalized to community needs.

Community Demand:

  • D rive platform growth by leveraging Microsoft’s T ech for S ocial I mpact solutions , Microsoft volunteers and subject matter experts and the active nonprofit partner ecosystem .
  • Bring key nonprofit influencers and their content to drive more community sign ups and event registrations.
  • Run platform webinars to drive more interest and registration leveraging research and influencers.
  • Leverage LinkedIn Partnership to build joint community programs to drive more community growth and engagement.
  • Work with community manager to Run AMAs to help keep community questions relevant and active.
  • Work with MSP teams to host active workshops and learning moments around AI and other nonprofit priorities.

Success in this role will leverage partnership and collaboration across Microsoft Philanthropies and other internal and external partners.
