Job Summary

Manage the operation of the electric distribution system, comprised of more than 13,000 miles of overhead and underground distribution lines and maintain continuity of electric service to more than one million PSEG Long Island customers, which includes management of the company’s response to storms that impact the electric system.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation of the electric distribution system, comprised of more than 13,000 miles of overhead and underground distribution lines and maintain continuity of electric service to more than one million LIPA customers, which includes management of the company’s response to storms that affect the electric system.
  • Manage divisional O&M and Capital budgets in order to direct and control specific cost variables.
  • Prioritize process and respond to all customer inquiries/service requests relating to the electric distribution system as well as manage customer complaints regarding interruptions, high/low voltage, flickering lights and open neutrals in order to identify and deliver solutions to benefit the customer and LIPA.
  • Communicate with various internal and external organizations, including LIPA, DPS, Media and Major Account customers in order to keep them up to date and informed on restoration issues.
  • Direct company response to electric storm management and emergency restoration within division on day-to-day basis and especially during storm periods including providing around the clock coverage to ensure efficient and effective storm response.
  • Involvement with teams for continuous improvement and supporting DE&I and Work Place Behavior programs and initiatives.
  • Manage training of both incumbent and apprentice workforce .

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, science or technical preferred) and a minimum of 9 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of the electric transmission and distribution system
    • Candidates without a degree must have 11 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of the electric transmission and distribution system.
  • 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated by leading special committees and enabling effectiveness and efficiency by soliciting input from team members, communicating expectations of the team and delegating responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • In-depth knowledge and technical experience within electric transmission and distribution, collective bargaining agreements with IBEW Local 1049, work methods, and rules for safe operation.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Valid US Dirvers License with a safe and satisfactory driving history.

Desired:

  • Computer skills such as OMS, CICS, Oracle, Maximo, P-3, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Takes specific actions to enable the team to function efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply and modify learned concepts appropriately.
  • Demonstrate the ability to anticipate obstacles and think about next steps
