The Meeting & Event Supervisor, Training & Education will help create successful educational programs that drive customer engagement and loyalty as well as equip our commercial teams to be an outstanding commercial organization. The success of our training and education programs will enhance our value proposition and accelerate growth. Reporting to Sr. Manager, Global Training and Education this position will organize and implement all the logistical details for our in-person and virtual technical events and commercial training programs. The attention to detail during planning and execution will contribute greatly to the overall success of the Transplant Diagnostics business within the Specialty Diagnostics Group.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues from Technical Support and Marketing as well as our Commercial teams and Channel Partners.
This position is located in West Hills, CA, or remote US. Preference is for someone on-site in West Hills, CA.
Position Summary:
- Plan and implement Educational & Training Events, including program logistics, on-site event management, end-to-end execution and vendor management
- Coordinate speaker and KOL invitations to specific workshops including PEA contract management, legal reviews, and honorariums where applicable
- Prepare, collect and report on metrics to measure the success of each program
- Communicate event scheduling and needs with venues, vendors, speakers and guests
- Track event costs, pay invoices, and report expenses while adhering to approved budget
- Coordinate purchase/rental, delivery and setup of necessary equipment, such as speakers, stages, chairs
- Lead online registration and communication to registrants
- Research and choose appropriate vendors taking into account geographical location, travel and hotel needs, and other variables as they arise
- Negotiate contracts while building and maintaining strong relationships with partners
- Liaise with country specific Thermo Fisher Scientific legal entities to meet regional legal requirements for speaker sponsorships
- Keep company leadership, speakers, vendors, and staff updated on overall project status and changes
- Stay up to date on local event regulations and ensure all safety requirements are met
- Travel to meetings, workshops, trade shows, or customer sites as needed
- Help keep programs up to date with current and accurate information communicated and coordinated by and with the Technical Training Team and Market Dev Training & Educational Teams.
- Approximately 30% travel, both Domestic and International.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning institution and at least 5 years of proven experience in a related role. OR High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of direct experience in hospitality or related field.
- Strong customer service, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
- Hyper organized and strong emphasis on project management and schedule coordination
- Works effectively despite minimal supervision and tight deadlines
- Multi-task responsibilities/activities, problem solve to build successful meetings
- Familiar with creating, tracking, adhering to, and reporting on quarterly budgets
- Effectively communicate and collaborate, both orally and in writing to management, customers, third party personnel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products for word processing, and the creation of presentations and spreadsheets
- Demonstrated history of working in a team setting in a collaborative and effective manner.
- Adapt to changes in technology; work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all Thermo Fisher functions including Sales, Marketing, R&D, Technical Support, and Field Applications Scientists.
- Position may require Covid-19 vaccination and/or routine testing, per client discretion. As a requirement to be onsite at Thermo Fisher Scientific this position requires vaccination status disclosure upon employment.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $75,000.00-$100,000.00.
