POSITION SUMMARY
This is a management role, reporting to the Associate Executive Director (AED). This role executes regional outreach and marketing efforts at the direction of the AED and in collaboration with the Outward Bound Services Group (OBSG), which markets Outward Bound ‘open enrollment’ (OE) programs nationwide.
VOBS has two primary revenue streams: OE (for individuals) and custom partner programs (for organizations or groups). While the Manager will work to create awareness for both lines of VOBS business, the role will prioritize promotion of VOBS OE courses by conducting VOBS own outreach and campaigns and by coordinating with OBSG to amplify national communication efforts aimed at increasing student enrollment at VOBS.
This position will manage VOBS communications platforms, vendors and consultants and collaborates with the VOBS Development team and other stakeholders to provide useful tools and assets while ensuring that VOBS communications efforts adhere to national brand standards and our value-proposition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Outreach and Marketing for Program Revenue (70%)
- Design and execute regional marketing campaigns to promote OE programs and increase OE enrollment
- Develop and manage collateral to create (or help vendors create) content and promote OE courses in our region
- Coordinate with OBSG, attend national marketing meetings, amplify national marketing campaigns regionally and share VOBS marketing priorities and trends
- Participate in VOBS program revenue meetings to report on national marketing tactics and trends to inform VOBS strategy and tactics
- Co-manage VOBS OE course webpage content with OBSG and VOBS Student Services
- Coordinate with national website vendor to manage OE components of VOBS website
- Conduct regional marketing campaigns to promote partner program opportunities, as directed by the Associate Executive Director, who leads Partnership business development
- Develop and manage collateral to create content and promote partner programs
- Manage VOBS partnership course webpage content in coordination with Associate Executive Director and VOBS Student Services
- Manage VOBS website content to promote partner program value-proposition
- Manage and report spending against budget; report on spending as requested
Brand Communications & Collateral Management (25%)
- Manage VOBS website content to promote partner program value-proposition
- Manage and report spending against budget; report on spending as requested
- Conduct regional communications campaigns and routine social promotion to promote VOBS value proposition and elevate our presence in local markets
- Coordinate with OBSG & Outward Bound USA marketing staff to keep VOBS communications compliant with Outward Bound brand standards
- Manage VOBS communications tools and platforms

- Manage VOBS website updates in coordination with national vendor, national marketing staff and VOBS stakeholders, including Director of Development and Associate Executive Director
Communications Budget Management (<5%)
- Work with Associate Executive Director and Finance Director to set and inform VOBS Marketing budget
- Manage and report spending against budget; report on spending as requested
General Workplace Responsibilities (<5%)
- Attend and participate in VOBS activities/events as needed

Position Requirements

- Storytelling-identify and hone value propositions to create and execute compelling and relevant content, presentations, campaigns and social messages to promote programs and awareness

WORK CONDITIONS
- Hybrid role – opportunity to work remotely at least 2 days per week. Our office is located in St. Paul, MN
- Environment is office/home office
- Work is primarily indoors, with occasional need to travel and/or participate in outdoor events
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Events may have excessive noise and /or require working in close proximity to others

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a full time, salaried, exempt position. $55,000-$65,000 per year. VOBS offers a competitive benefits package, including employer sponsored health insurance, a dental and vision plan, STD, LTD and a 403(b) retirement plan with 2% match. Paid time off including, vacation, holidays, personal, parental and sick leave.
Outward Bound has a zero-tolerance policy for incidents of child abuse and neglect. Protecting our minor students against abuse and neglect is of the highest priority. The successful applicant will need to meet our background screening criteria.
