Summary

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL), the Marketing and Digital Content Specialist will plan and coordinate marketing and communications efforts and initiatives across the college. This position assists the Dean in advancing CASL strategic goals through quality, impactful, and consistent marketing and communications. The position will assist CASL’s diverse array of departments, disciplines, and programs in effectively marketing and communicating to a variety of audiences (prospective and current students, alumni and donors, CASL faculty and staff, and the outside community). The position will collaborate and coordinate with university External Relations and Enrollment Management to ensure alignment of CASL efforts with the university’s branding standards, messaging, and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities*

  • Determine marketing and promotional needs across the college. Develop, in conjunction with CASL leadership, plans to meet those needs and implement approved plans for the purposes of student recruitment, retention, and college/campus/community outreach.
  • Develop/edit/print College-wide, Department, Discipline, Program brochures and flyers for academic events and recruitment events.
  • Develop/edit/post various social media posts.
  • Develop/edit/send various internal and external digital newsletters and CASL Dean’s Office communications and announcements.
  • Create and manage a social media plan and strategies geared towards engaging prospective students, current students, staff, faculty and CASL alumni.
  • Post several times a week on CASL’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
  • Assist CASL departments on their social media strategies.
  • Responsible for overall web content decisions and adherence to branding for the College.
  • Serve as the designated staff member in the college for web-related issues.
  • Create/design/write material for print publication and new webpages for CASL programs.
  • Meet with the department/program editors throughout the year to go over issues, help set up new webpages, do refresher training.
  • Review/act on monthly reports from: SiteImprove and Web Page Analytics.
  • Develop/print certificates and programs for various events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor degree
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • High degree of creativity, resourcefulness and innovation within University brand standards
  • Sound project management skills to prioritize, initiate, and complete multiple and diverse projects and tasks with competing deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment within CASL and with campus-wide colleagues, and engaging others in an authentic, open, and positive manner
  • Experience with the Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Experience and knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design and its tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud Apps: Photoshop, InDesign

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor degree in in mass communication, journalism, English, marketing, or public relations or related field
  • More than 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
  • Experience in social media campaigns
  • Experience with digital forms and survey creation (Formstack, Google, or Qualtrics)
  • Proficient with photo and video editing
  • Familiarity with “Emma” or similar email marketing product
  • Familiarity with Drupal 9
  • Knowledge of tools such as GoogleDrive, GoogleDocs, DropBox
  • Understanding of printing techniques

Work Schedule

30 hours per week with an option to work a hybrid schedule

Term-limited position for one year (12 calendar months), with the potential for renewal based upon available funding.
