Job Summary
The Manager, OSP Engineering will be responsible for managing OSP Engineering activities performed by both Ziply employees and engineering vendors, ensuring that work performed meets or exceed quality standards and projects are completed per design, on-time and within the allocated budget. This position requires strong teamwork within the Construction Department, as well as cross-collaboration with other departments across the organization.

- Accountable for the staffing, schedules and compliance associated with OSP engineering and construction activities, along with the safety and quality of work performed.
- Lead an internal OSP Engineering and Construction team and provide leadership and mentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performance management.
- Oversee production of all engineering work orders within an assigned geographic area. Ensure engineering work orders are designed in compliance with all company standards, NESC, and municipal requirements, as well as public ROW or utility easements. Confirm project cost estimates are accurate. Release work orders to Construction in time to meet commitment dates.
- Manage construction process and documentation through project completion.
- Identify permitting authorities based on proposed routes, including municipalities, government entities, utility owners and any other agencies who have authority over the right-of-way in which we are proposing to construct. Oversee the completion of necessary permit applications.
- Manage the coordination with all utilities for project design and construction to utilize join trenching efforts.
- Verify contractor’s invoices for accuracy and process to AP in a timely manner.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute project schedules with contractors, property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities, and government agencies.
- Complete pre-construction plant walk-out necessary to fulfill company standards, utility, and local government requirements. Complete post-construction documentation and insure as-builts are accurate.
- Coordinate and participate in various internal meetings to ensure communication and alignment of initiatives, information sharing and implementation of best practices.
- Coordinate with State, local municipalities, and utilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of OSP experience, including quoting, permitting and other pre-construction activities.
- Developed leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead others.
- Experience using fiber optic network documentation tools.
- Experience managing capital budgets preferred.
- Advanced understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have computer competency, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite, and understanding of database programs.
- Ability to type minimum of 40 WPM 40.
- Ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations.
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
