Manager, Media Operations

About the Role
The Media Operations team is focused on hands-on-keyboard activation of digital channels – inclusive of tagging, trafficking, buying, & more – and how & where to use the right digital platforms, and use them well, to achieve media and business goals. We ensure consistency, governance, and support around platform usage and activation activities, and aid in all ongoing building, buying, optimization, and reporting efforts.

In this role, you can expect to manage a team of individuals as well as a book of business. As a strategic consultative partner, this individual will advise clients and team members on industry trends and ways to harness different technology solutions to drive long-term value. Successful candidates for this opportunity will demonstrate strategic thinking, strong people management & team development capabilities, and client management skills that go beyond platform knowledge.

Note: This is considered a remote/hybrid role, and you can expect to work with clients and other team members located across the US and/or internationally.
Responsibilities:
Showcase the balance of technical excellence, ability to manage & lead teams and individuals, and manage or support client communications and relationships. You’ll own all or parts of client teams and the management of our end-to-end engagements and relationships with clients themselves, and be responsible for the performance and career development of anywhere from 4 to 10 team members.

  • Lead and oversee campaign planning, builds, and ongoing management of our clients’ media efforts
  • Actively manage, oversee, and/or own client communications and updates, review of incoming requests and questions, and troubleshooting of issues on platforms and media execution across the team, acting as an escalation point where and when necessary
  • Support and monitor team members to ensure a high standard of work and communication, including quality assurance against all media execution across your book of clients
  • Collaborate with your team members to help prioritize and organize where needed, ensuring completion of day-to-day tasks for both clients and internal efforts
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives, projects and opportunities – both internal and external – forward, through direct participation and/or team participation
  • Develop the skills of team members, identifying areas of strength & growth and opportunities appropriate to leverage for individuals and the team
  • Lead regular individual feedback and planning sessions, inclusive of scheduled career development activities as prescribed by Media.Monks
  • Collaborate with peers to discuss, receive, and scale learnings across the broader Media team
  • Communicating top-down updates and priorities to your team as relevant; communicate bottoms-up feedback and escalations to you manager and Media leadership as relevant
  • Execute at an expert level and support training the team against media platforms across Programmatic, Social, and Search channels such as, but not limited to…
    • Programmatic DSPs: DV360, TTD, Amazon DSP, etc.
    • Ad Servers: Campaign Manager
    • Social Buying Platforms: Meta, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit
    • Search Engines & Search Management Platforms: Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, SA360
  • Utilize internal tools and processes for day-to-day work and task completion, e.g. Slack, GSuite, Salesforce, Workday, etc., while also ensuring teams are following and/or building on best practices
  • Keep up to date on Media.Monks offerings and changes within the ad industry, and identify opportunities to enhance client services

About You
We’re looking for strong operators who can not only demonstrate a variety of skills individually, but also lead teams in growing their own skill sets to do the same. You should have experience against and be interested in continuing the direct management of a team, and be able to leverage those leadership abilities to successfully drive our clients’ media engagements forward at a high standard of quality.
The essentials:

  • Strong proficiency in multiple platforms and/or channels relevant to our Media team, and a clear understanding of the Media landscape and how platforms fit into that ecosystem
    • Programmatic DSPs: DV360, TTD, Amazon DSP, etc.
    • Ad Servers: Campaign Manager
    • Social Buying Platforms: Meta, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit
    • Search Engines & Search Management Platforms: Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, SA360
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and act on explicitly or implicitly stated problems, roadblocks, and next steps and lead the structuring of those situations to drive prioritization and end outputs/success
  • Ability to work with and contextualize data on a regular basis, including the anticipation of helpful analysis and questions, identification of necessary and/or helpful inputs, accurate and consistent manipulation of data sets, and analysis against data to identify trends, outliers, and or important outputs
    • Ability to not only answer questions, but also contextualize results and/or alternative options
    • Demonstrated ability to consistently lead analyses and work with data in standard tool such as Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Ability to prioritize your own tasks & schedules and identify conflicting timelines or concurrent needs and asks in collaboration with peers and/or manager, while also being able to help support the prioritization of your team and relevant stakeholders
    • Delegation and communication against tasks and timelines when needed and/or as priorities change
  • Ability to plan and lead professional-grade internal and/or external meetings, inclusive of agenda-building, note taking, material preparation, identification of action items, and follow-up communications
    • Recognition of the need to steer conversions or agendas in real-time
    • Recognition of incremental and/or separate needs across teams and topics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with working with both internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to create professional-grade material, e.g. emails, summaries, decks, etc.
    • Ability to recognize and articulate gaps & improvements across your team
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage one-off tasks and larger or longer initiatives, and to manage your own work in conjunction with team needs and priorities
  • Advanced self and social awareness skills, demonstrating an ability to moderate your own personal state and stress and recognize how to best work with clients, teams, and individual peers
    • Ability to recognize and solve for areas of improvement and growth across your team
  • Demonstrated experience of thriving in a professional setting with team members and clients
  • 4 years or more in a relevant Media role or environment
  • Experience managing multiple individuals while being responsible for their work output and overall career development and growth

What We Offer
Media.Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Media.Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Media.Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
US Salary Range
$110,000 – $160,000 USD, Depending On Location & Experience
