Manages activities and associated personnel in the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Cooperatives’ Campus, Secondary, and Plant IT infrastructure focusing on internal core network and systems along with the business process applications these resources support.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the Cooperative’s Campus, Secondary Data Center, and all Generating Station Data Center systems focusing on the business process applications these resources support.
  • Manages the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtualization, server, and storage systems. Guides the design, implementation, and operation of corporate compute and storage systems.
  • Evaluates corporate IT campus/secondary/plant datacenter and systems needs to determine when upgrades of equipment and/or services will be required. Analyzes statistical information from all datacenter systems to determine network performance and to identify problem areas.
  • Participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data center infrastructure to ensure continual access to core business services and resources, which include backup power and redundant cooling systems. Ensures datacenter redundancy in the form of a disaster recovery datacenter, whereupon core network and server equipment is maintained and coerced into service in the event of availability to primary data center services and resources is lost.
  • Manages the operation and administration of the Cooperative’s unified communications system. Reviews the monitoring of voice system performance to determine when upgrades of equipment, software, or telecommunications service will be required.
  • Coordinates the implementation of corporate telecommunications systems within the Cooperative. Designs and implements telecommunications systems to meet the needs of the various departments and divisions.
  • Maintains high availability of all voice and unified communications systems within the Cooperative. Evaluates system reliability and makes recommendations to improve reliability where possible.
  • Assists Member Cooperatives in the design, implementation, and installation (as directed) of datacenter systems and telecommunications networks. Partners with Member Cooperatives to design systems appropriate for their needs and assist in acquisition of hardware and software. Provides installation and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
  • Manages the purchase of materials and supplies necessary for the operation of the corporate datacenters, plants, and telecommunications networks.
  • Coordinates the planning process for corporate datacenters, core network, and telecommunications services, hardware, and software. Evaluates the specific hardware and software required to fulfill needs, as well as the proper configuration of equipment. Assists in the budgeting process for capital expenditures regarding data center management.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversees verification, determination of proper accounting treatment, and payment approval of service provider invoices. Develops methods and procedures to allow tracking and analysis of the Cooperatives telecommunications expenses.
  • The ability to handle necessary stress and work reasonably well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, plus 8 years total related experience including at least 5 years management experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CCNA/CCNP/CCIE Data Center, VCTA/VCP/VCAP, and/or NCDA or equivalent demonstrable skills/knowledge

Valid Drivers License
