Description

The Refugee Housing and Logistics Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of housing and logistics operations for refugees in Maryland or Virginia. This position involves overseeing the outreach to housing providers, to collaborate with agency staff and partners on apartment set-ups, to work with housing providers on maintenance of housing facilities, to arrange the transportation logistics of donated items and related services to support the resettlement and integration of refugees. The Refugee Housing and Logistics Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders to ensure the provision of safe, secure, sanitary, and affordable housing options for refugees.

Responsibilities:
1. Housing Management:
• Develop housing outreach strategies in collaboration with internal staff and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with housing providers, landlords, and property management companies to secure suitable and affordable housing options for refugees.
• Conduct needs assessments and identify appropriate housing resources based on the unique needs of refugees.
• Coordinate housing placements, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations, and maintaining accurate records of housing arrangements.
• Conduct regular inspections of housing facilities to ensure they meet quality standards, address any maintenance, or repair issues, and ensure the safety and security of residents.
• Provide support and guidance to refugees in understanding their housing rights, responsibilities, and procedures.
2. Logistics Coordination:
• Plan and coordinate apartment set-ups with the Housing and logistics team, the Community Engagement team, and the R&P team to ensure all PRM required items are timely provided.
• Collaborate with Community Engagement team and community organizations, GNP partners, and volunteers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Develop and implement efficient transportation systems, considering cost-effectiveness and safety to timely get donated items to refugees’ homes.
• Maintain accurate records and databases of donations pick-ups or drop-offs in close coordination with the Engagement and R&P teams.
3. Team Management and Supervision:
• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of housing coordinators, logistics staff, and support personnel.
• Work with the housing team to ensure individual and collective housing goals are met.
• Provide ongoing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure the team’s effectiveness and professional development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Collaborate with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community partners to enhance housing and logistics support services for refugees.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and working groups related to safe and affordable housing and logistics to contribute expertise and advocate for the needs of refugees.
• Cultivate positive relationships with landlords, housing providers, and transportation companies to facilitate effective partnerships and negotiate favorable terms.
5. Compliance and Reporting:
• Ensure compliance with relevant state and county regulations, policies, and funding requirements related to housing, transportation, and logistics.
• Prepare and submit accurate reports, statistics, and documentation as required by funding bodies, government agencies, and organizational stakeholders.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and developments in refugee housing and logistics.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Real Estate, Logistics, Business Administration) or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in housing management, logistics coordination, or a related field, preferably in refugee resettlement or humanitarian settings.
• Knowledge of housing regulations, rental markets, and property management practices.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including refugees, landlords, government officials, and community partners.
• Proficiency in data management and record-keeping.
• Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and social integration.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, databases, transportation management systems) is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages, particularly languages spoken by refugee populations, is a plus.
