The Wall Street Journal Marketing team is responsible for recruiting the world’s foremost influential business and consumer audiences into our Live Journalism events. We host highly specialized events that build on the power of our journalism, the insight of our analysis, the ambition of our audience and the continuity of community.

Role Overview

The Manager, Acquisition Marketing – Events will join the entrepreneurial team that delivers world-class event propositions at The Wall Street Journal. The team creates, runs and manages successful events which convene the world’s leading C Suite executives, politicians, industry experts and vertical business communities. The Manager, Acquisition Marketing – Events will play a pivotal role in generating awareness, interest and demand for our events, contributing to the future new business growth of the group.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute multi-channel campaign plans to drive awareness and conversion of our event propositions including: email, digital media, owned media, paid media, social, print, sales, partnerships
  • Proactively analyze in-cycle campaigns – drawing on successes and failures in order to identify tactics that are working to deliver on acquisition goals
  • Work closely with the sponsorship sales teams to identify targeted audiences and define strategies to acquire, engage, and retain attendees
  • Working collaboratively with paid media, brand, product, news, sales and operations teams to derive creative ways to drive event acquisition.
  • Own the analytics and story behind the data for sponsor clients and internal teams
  • Be a data driven, analytical marketer who can own the narrative from marketing data to influence other departments to drive forward the product
  • Take full ownership of the event websites and registration process to ensure ease of registration, an excellent customer experience, and strong value propositions to drive conversions
  • Deliver the marketing plan to your direct manager and wider team for each event

What do you need from me?

  • 4-5 years of marketing experience preferred, ideally in B2B publishing, events, media or agency equivalent;
  • Analytical and data driven, but also have a passion for creativity and forward-thinking flair;
  • Have a test-learn-measure approach to everything you do. Be able to analyze results and situations, get to solutions and recommendations quickly;
  • Be able to take responsibility for initiatives and encourage a positive ‘can do’ attitude at all times;
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and resolve challenges
  • A keen customer-facing attitude;
  • Ideally possess a Business or Marketing degree, and/or relevant experience.

Pay Range: $50,000 – $180,000
