The Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of skilled and industrial maintenance work to maintain and/or repair structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC units, robotics, machines, electrical systems, metal fabrication machinery (presses, punches, shears, etc.), heating systems, plumbing, and other mechanical building systems. Work requires an in-depth knowledge of maintenance techniques, various trades and the performance of related duties as assigned. Technician often works independently without regular assistance or direct supervision – requiring a high level of dedication and knowledge for success.

Work Schedule: Friday-Sunday, 5:00am-5:00pm

Work 36 hours, get paid for 40!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Ensures the proper operation of machinery and equipment by completing scheduled and assigned preventive maintenance tasks and work orders.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs a variety of shop machinery and equipment, often with the use of electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Troubleshoots PLC systems by utilizing programming logic when required
  • Utilizes a wide variety of tools, machinery, and instruments to complete required tasks e.g., vertical mill, dial indicators, laptop interface and multimeter
  • Troubleshoots low voltage systems utilizing basic understanding of electrical systems and electronics.
  • Utilizes welding and fabrication equipment to complete repairs when necessary
  • Works as a team member to accomplish team goals and expectations.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitors compliance.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs including data entry through the use of various software programs.
  • All other duties, as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this position.

  • An Associate’s Degree, Certificate, or Technical Diploma from a trade school in related field (maintenance, mechatronics, robotics automation, etc.); OR two (2) or more years’ experience in the industrial or building maintenance field where independent and somewhat autonomous work was completed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with successfully making repairs to, and conducting maintenance on, processing equipment.
  • Proficient in basic computing skills, including Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Above-average written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to assess, problem-solve, and trouble-shoot mechanical issues.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply logical reasoning
  • Forklift experience and/or certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with making repairs to, and conducting maintenance on, robotic equipment.
  • Journeyman licenses a plus, but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required for this role.
  • Experience in the operation of a processing or manufacturing facility a plus.

Physical Demands

This position requires the individual to actively move around the plant during all working hours; however, primary task are done in a standing position for extended periods. Weights of up to 50-lbs may have to be manually lifted, pushed, or pulled.

Work Environment

Duties will involve frequent movement between plant office, loading docks and manufacturing floor. The individual will experience moderate factory noise, welding illumination, and occasionally work outdoors during loading. The incumbent will typically work independently and without direct assistance or supervision. PPE must be worn as required including but not limited to Steel toed shoes and safety glasses. The incumbent occasionally performs work-related travel, less than 10% of the time. Additionally, some special projects, initiatives, or intermittent business needs may require the flexibility to work on alternate day or shift hours for extended periods of time.
