Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift

Looking for Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift (2:00 – 10:30)

SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in the plant and production areas such as motors, tools, conveyor systems, controlling devices and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Food safety or quality responsibilities within job. All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.

Performs daily inspections and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment.

Evaluates and solves mechanical problems.

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to detect malfunctions and works with supervision and other maintenance personnel to diagnose and repair the machine.

Works with production personnel to help improve production efficiencies by suggesting machine improvements and maintenance procedures to those machines.

Interfaces with outside contractors when contracted work is scheduled during assigned shifts and with outside vendors for purchased parts.

Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and clean parts. Knowledge of proper lubrication and alignment of components.

Ability to troubleshoot Mechanical Equipment.

Knowledge of Steam Generators

Electrical knowledge, knows how to perform tasks with a meter, checking motors, voltage and testing.

Ability to operate lathe, drill press, grinder, milling machine and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.

Addresses safety issues and sanitation issues that require immediate attention.

Monitor preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules to meet scheduled due date.

Communicates company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Fabricates production parts.

Knowledgeable of production equipment, form fill machines, food processes and food safety.

Repairs counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.

Cleans up work area entirely after the performance of duties.

Ability to read mechanical and electrical prints.

Ability to install, move or dismantle equipment as needed.

Implements new concepts to increase efficiencies.

Performs other maintenance functions in the plant as required by Supervisor.

Responsible for the quality of their work and implementation of the food safety/quality procedures applicable to the processes that they perform.

Report all safety incidents.

Responsible to report any food safety/quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action – SQF Practitioner or direct supervisor.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apple concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER
Must be able to identify, evaluate and solve mechanical and minor electrical problems; possess a working knowledge of pneumatics, machine shop tools and measuring equipment; prioritize work assignments; work successfully in a team environment, and; be able to work the hours and shifts required to complete the tasks assigned.
