Job Description
The Senior Litigation and eDiscovery Manager supports Commercial IP and the OneNovartis Discovery team (OND). The role (1) is an excellent opportunity to become an expert in the area of IP Litigation and eDiscovery (2) requires ability to prioritize work (3) ability to work in a fast paced, multi-faceted, collaborative environment, take instruction, follow through with a task all the while multi-tasking and (4) necessitates excellent oral and written communication skills.
The ideal candidate can take instruction, handle a large volume of work, and formulate a solution for completing the task (no matter how simple or intricate). Additionally, the candidate should be able to work independently and to quickly learn and develop new processes and procedures.
What you will be doing:
Litigation Support & IP Management
• Patent Litigation Support (50%):
o Manage the flow of information and correspondence between outside counsel, IP Paralegals and Commercial IP, including supporting litigation related filing, request new records to be created in IP related databases and systems, docketing or calen-daring exercises, and preparation and handling of litigation related assignments, powers of attorneys, settlement agreements or other litigation related legal docu-ments including obtaining signatures and legalization if needed. This will require training on various IP-related databases and systems.
o Coordinate with outside counsel, in-house counsel, and IP Paralegals to draft Legal Hold Notices and ensure they are prepared and issued from OneNovartisDiscovery’s legal hold database.
o Ensure all assignments and recordal information are communicated to the PIP In-box to ensure the patent records are updated.
o Support Litigation attorney with budgeting and spend per product (i.e. collect data from outside counsel regarding monthly spend and update necessary documenta-tion).
o Respond to complex litigation related tasks in a timely, professional and reliable manner.
• OneNovartisDiscovery (50%):
o Developing data preservation, collection, processing, hosting, review and production strategies, leveraging new technologies to manage discovery cost and risk.

o Developing data preservation, collection, processing, hosting, review and production strategies, leveraging new technologies to manage discovery cost and risk.
o Providing electronic discovery support for various legal matters and investigations.
o Preparing and maintaining case and project documentation including, various activity logs, status updates, schedules, budgets, project charter, business case.
o Providing thoughtful, creative solutions to tasks and projects assigned, including development of OneNovartisDiscovery Processes.
o Support eDiscovery budgeting and spend tracking initiatives.
Development of Knowledge Management
• Develop institutional knowledge pertaining to IP Litigation documentation, processes and procedures, and global understanding of litigation.
• Develop institutional knowledge pertaining to legal hold, collection, preservation, hosting, processing, eDiscovery, and document review through OneNovartisDiscovery documentation.
• Interact with eDiscovery vendors when improving processes.

Minimum Requirements
What you will bring to the role:
Education (minimum/desirable):
J.D. or paralegal certificate
Experience:
• Excellent process management skills
• Experience working as an IP litigation paralegal in a law firm or corporate environment
• Excellent analytical skills / able to handle complex analyses
• Ability to work in MS Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Experience with Visio and SQL (preferred)
• Ability to learn quickly
• Excellent communication and conceptual synthesis skills (written and oral)
• Ability to communicate openly, clearly and across cultures
• Passionate and positive attitude a must
• Outstanding flexibility, adaptability and sense of accountability
• Licensed to practice law, a plus

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: $112,800.00 and $169,200.00 USD per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
