POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Alutiiq Career Ventures, (ACV) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Librarian I to join our team. As a librarian, you will perform a range of duties such as cataloging library resources, and maintaining library records.
The Librarian I will support the NASA Communications Services contract. For this position, you will have to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, as a great part of your job will involve interacting with the customers. The ideal candidate should also possess in-depth knowledge of library database systems, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under immediate supervision and reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Responsible for assisting librarians by helping readers in the use of library catalogs, databases, and indexes to locate books and other materials
- Responsible for answering questions that require only brief consultation of standard reference
- Responsible for compiling records, sorting and shelving books or other media, removal or repair of damaged books or other media
- Responsible for registering patrons and checking materials in and out of the circulation process
- Responsible for replacing materials in shelving area (stacks) or files, including bookmobile drivers who assist with providing services in mobile libraries.
- Responsible for generating routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
- Duties may include directly interfacing with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in library science, information science or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university.
- Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Proficient in:
- advanced oral and written communications;
- advanced writing and editing; and
- advanced problem solving
