Legal Counsel, EA Esports
The EA Legal Team is looking for a Legal Counsel, Esports to support EA Esports programs including FC Global Series, Apex Legends Global Series, and Madden Championship Series. You will be reporting to the VP, Legal Affairs, EA Esports and Entertainment. You may be based in any of our following locations: Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA; Orlando, FL; Toronto, Canada; Vancouver, Canada; or Guildford, UK.
Role Overview:
You will be an important member of the team supporting EA Esports’ competitive gaming programs. You will guide competitive gaming for the EA Esports ecosystem, where the top Football Club, Madden and Apex Legends players in the world prove themselves. This ecosystem includes unique marketing activities and competitions, EA Esports premiere live events, and the hundreds of EA-licensed Esports events, leagues, and activities through our partnerships.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for candidates with experience supporting commercial and corporate matters. You will:
- Provide comprehensive legal support to EA Esports programs, including the FC Global Series, Apex Legends Global Series, and Madden Championship Series;
- Lead the legal support of assigned Esports projects;
- Review, draft, and negotiate several types of contracts, including event management agreements, talent agreements, production services agreements, waivers, sponsorship agreements, media distribution agreements, consulting agreements, marketing agreements, and master services agreements;
- Advise with legally-sound, efficient, practical and impactful work product on multiple legal issues, to cover the topics they may need legal assistance on, from the development of new programs, to implementation of programs, live events, player management, and online competitions;
Qualifications:
- J.D. (or local equivalent) and lawyer in good standing in applicable jurisdiction.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, with a blend of in-house and law firm experience preferred.
- Prior experience in sports, Esports, video games, entertainment or media broadcasting and production is a plus.
- Familiarity with intellectual property licensing, live events, event production, sponsorship, drafting of competition rules, advertising, and marketing laws.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
° $113,300 – $171,700
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
° $111,500 – $171,700
• Jersey City, NJ:
° $126,700 – $171,700
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
° $111,500 – $144,000
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
° $111,500 – $157,300
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
