Lead Transportation Router

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Router, you will be responsible for routing all of the assigned deliveries in the division on a daily basis. You will manage delivery routes, maintain reports and documentations, and ensure a seamless process from our warehouse to our customers. A successful candidate will have effectively demonstrated an ability to continuously build better service and contribute to our delivery process.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Creating efficient and cost- effective routes to meet customer needs.
  • Maintaining proper balance between route distance and load size to accommodate drivers’ capabilities and distribution center productivity standards.
  • Matching available vehicles with load and distance requirements.
  • Allocating equipment and driver resources for scheduled and unscheduled deliveries.
  • Collecting all driver data and imputing information into the system.
  • Performing audits on jobs, timecards, and driver routes sheets for accuracy of reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations relative to transportation.
  • Communicating load requisites, routes, and schedules with warehouse staff.
  • Assisting in equipment maintenance, backhaul planning, and productivity reporting.
  • Making recommendations to Transportation Manager for future DOT compliance.
  • Maintaining delivery times, driver logs, and fill in weekly transportation report.
  • Validating fuel receipts against invoices and recording all fuel purchases by depot/date.
  • Performing other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) certificate.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of delivery and driving experience OR 1-3 years of Dispatching experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft office applications; such as Excel and Word.
  • Ability to manage routing, distribution, and logistic computer software.
  • Ability to analyze, critically evaluate situations, and communicate effectively.
