Brightpoint Community College seeks to hire a Lead Security Officer to assists with the planning, implementation, supervision, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the specific safety services and functions, including operating policies, procedures, and methods.

Responsibilities includes:

  • Assists with the coordination of all security operations designed to meet the unique needs of the college including: maintaining a safe campus environment, protecting life and property, supervising security operations, providing essential public safety services, participating in events planning, overseeing investigations, delivering educational programs, administering campus parking, and working cooperatively with local and state law enforcement agencies and government authorities
  • Ensures the college’s security force maintains a high level of customer service, as they are often the first people that constituents and visitors will interact
  • Project a positive image of the college and security services through a positive attitude and appearance; good oral and communication skills; ability to function mentally and physically under stress and in emergency conditions.
  • Reports to and receives general direction from the Security Manager
  • Serves as essential personnel

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA’s/Required Qualifications
Qualifications includes:

  • Considerable knowledge of designing and implementing security operations
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, schedule work based on funds available, and utilize an automated maintenance request system
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and leadership ability
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, outside vendors and department heads
  • Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports
  • Must have ability to analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and function within a modern office setting
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations at all college locations 24/7
  • Considerable experience in judicial system, public safety, police sciences or in the security field.
  • Supervisor and/or leadership experience in a security or law enforcement setting
  • DCJS Campus Security Officer Certification, or ability to obtain, is required
  • Appreciation for the educational and student development aspects of a campus public safety operation
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and leadership skills in dealing with direct reports, students, faculty, staff and the general public
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • High school diploma or GED , or equivalent combination of training and education that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
Additional Considerations
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
